Bridgegen's USB 2.0 A-to-C cable has the correct CC termination! A great legacy cable for your Type-C devices!
Benson here again, continuing my reviews of USB Type C legacy cables. Today I am reviewing Bridgegen's " 6.6 Ft/2M Braided Cable with Reversible Connector" To be clear, this is an A-to-C cable.Let's talk about spec compliance. My test setup today include a Chromebook Pixel 2015, and a Chromium OS USB-PD Sniffer (codename Twinkie). Please check it out by searching google for "Chromium USB-PD Sniffer". This product is also available on Amazon here : Plugable USB 3.1 Type-C (USB-C) Power Delivery SnifferI got a comment in one of my previous reviews that I should be testing with a 2.4A capable power supply to demonstrate that the cable is of good enough quality to sustain 2.4A charging, so for this review, I am using one of Apple's 1st party power adapters with a 5.2V, 2.4A charging capability, specifically Apple's 12W iPad charger.Running the ectool command on Pixel:localhost ~ # ectool --dev 1 usbpdpowerPort 0: SNK Charger Proprietary 4669mV / 2400mA, max 5000mV / 2400mA / 12000mWPort 1: SRCIn this case, the Pixel has negotiated up to 2.4A of charging through the Bridgegen cable to the Apple charger.Switching over to the USB PD sniffer, I'll run the "tw cc" command to get a voltage reading on both CC lines:> tw ccCC1 = 433 mV ; CC2 = 7 mVThe important number to look at here is CC1, which indicates a voltage of 433mV. If you refer to the USB Type-C Specification 1.1 Table 4-25.Look at the row labeled vRd-USB, which indicates the legal voltage values to read from the CC pin in order to be categorized as "Default USB Power". The range is Min : 0.25V Max : 0.61V. For this cable, I measured a value of 0.433V right in the middle of this range, indicating that yes, this cable has a 56kΩ resistor and is within spec for CC termination. For a USB 2.0 High Speed data test, I’ve hooked my Nexus 5X to my Chromebook Pixel via the Bridgegen Type-A to Type-C cable to test large file transfer via MTP. It just works, no problem! For other more subjective judgements of this cable : The Type-C plug on this cable is a very good quality plug made with a deep-draw extrusion process. The plug is a single continuous piece of metal all the way around, meaning it's stronger than other stamped type plugs. This type of plug very similar to the kind that is used on all of Google and Apple's Type-C plugs, and the quality shows here. The Bridgegen cable also has a very nice and thin braided nylon. The ends of both connectors are a high quality aluminum shell, which mesh well with all-aluminum products like MacBooks, Pixels and Nexus 6P.Overall, a very nice set of design choices by Bridgegen. This is the first braided nylon cable I have reviewed to have the deep-draw type-C plugs. In conclusion, this is a fine cable for your Nexus 6P/5X to use with all of your older USB Type-A chargers, hubs, and PCs. It also works great with Chromebook Pixel 2015 and will work great on USB Type-C spec compliant devices to come!

This is a great product to have for a spare charging cord
My review of the Bridgen 6 foot 6 inch braded cable. I purchased this do to the fact that my oem cable that came with my Note 7 was just too short, my cat likes the oem as a chew toy probably because it plastic coated. Not an issue with the braided cord she won’t go near it.Construction: This cable is made out of a braided type material. It feels smooth to the touch. The length is just write for me it measures 78 inches. The ends are well made. I like this compared to my OEM because it is longer and the fact that’s is braided is a nice feature. This product came in a nice box. It a type c connector so I don’t have to be mindful of which way the plug goes in versus a micro usb charging cord where the plug only goes in one way. Sometimes I bend the cord around items and this has no effect on its ability to work at all.Charging: I have not had any issues with fast charging using this cord. It doesn’t get hot and it seems to charge pretty quickly. I can go from a 50 % charge to full in about 15 to 20 minutes. This cord works great with my OEM charger. Not onto some of my observations. I have noticed that with this cord that I am not able to transfer pictures from my phone to my pc. To be fair I have the same issue with other brands of charging cords. It is a handy item to have for a backup charger. I keep 1 at work and in the traveling bag as well. Now keep in mind that this cord will only work with products that have the usb type c connector. I see some reviews where people are saying that either the braiding on the cord starts to unravel or it quits working after a month. With my testing of this cord I have not had these issues I have had this cord for going on 3 months now and it still looks the same as when I first bought it.If my review has helped you please click on the yes button.

UPDATE: A well built cable that should hold up well under normal use... IT DID NOT.
I used it to connect my OnePlus 6 to the charger and it worked as expected. For me, the length is great... I didn't feel like I was restricted... your mileage may vary as it depends on where your power outlet is vs. where you're sitting while connected to the charger. The cable is reasonably flexible and didn't kink upon un-coiling. I also like that the connector ends are cased in aluminum... they should hold up to normal use longer than the all plastic ones. The cloth braid casing around the cable itself looks nice now, but i wonder how well it will hold up over time... i know there is a plastic casing beneath, but the cloth braiding will probably tear, or get holes from abrasions. We'll see.UPDATE: So, the cable itself held up, but the USB-C connector end failed. The aluminum exterior casing came loose and slipped off, BUT that was not the bad part... the connector itself must have failed somehow as it would take forever to charge my OnePlus 6. I tried plugging the cable into different USB chargers and the same thing. When I used my back-up cable (a micro USB) with an adapter (micro USB to USB-C)... the OnePlus 6 charged up way faster. The condition of the rest of the cable seemed okay, BUT with the USB-C end failed... it is now in the garbage.

DANGEROUS!!! Fire Hazard
I purchased this back in 2017, but I could not find my photos until today. Sorry for the delay. This cord almost caught my house on fire last year and I only discovered it by accident back then. I always plug my phone in when I come home from work to let it charge. I had gone into the living room to watch TV with the family and had been there for about 30 minutes when I got up to go to the bathroom. As I walked through the bedroom to the bathroom I smelled something burning. Looking around I saw a puff of smoking coming from the cable. I immediately unplugged the cable from the wall and reached up to touch the part inserted into the phone. It was melted, falling apart and smoking, so I had to let it cool down before I could touch it and take it apart.I would NEVER purchase this again and ask others--even though it is not continued right now--to not purchase it either.

Disappointing
I bought this cable in March (2 months ago). It worked really well at first, but in the last week or so it does not always fast charge. Sometimes, I need to unplug and re-plug it into my phone to get it to do so. Sometimes, it will only slow-charge. There is no visible wear-and-tear (good, since it basically lives in one spot in my house), so it must be an internal problem. Disappointing.
