We love the rod and reel, but we broke the rod. Trying to find out if we can just replace the rod???

First day of fishing: I like the ABU Garcia brand (even thought most are not made in Switzerland anymore). They are still smooth and easy to operate. So far - no problems. Caught 23, 1+lb trout with the two from an 11 and 9 yo. I think even the 6yo caught 3 on one of them. Perfect size for kids. Lots of fun for adults who want to keep it simple. Light, smooth, and easy to transport at their size. I used the factory fishing line so far just to see what was on there...not problems at all. My go to for the not-so-veteran fisherman and guaranteed fun!Second Time Fishing: Used by an adult novice angler. Line on both reels I bought has to be replace - very curly already. Do fine with ~1 lb rainbow trout. My friend snagged a ~2.5 salmon using one of these combos and the rod tip broke at the second rod guide line at the tip. Lost the fish and was a bit embarrassing. Had it repaired for 5Euro, but now it's a shorter shorty. Will still be used by the kids for small trout/fish, but I wouldn't count on it for serious fishing of course.The fishing line turned out to be junk. Held strong, but was very curly from memory. I MAY just run the line to casting length and pull it tight to see if it will hold straight, but fishing with novice anglers, I was afraid the line would get tangled.

These rod reel combos seem really well made. Not a typical “kids” rod/reel these a the real deal. A great choice to give kids the usability of a smaller rod but with the quality you’d use yourself as a seasoned angler!

Seems to be a really nice set. Stiff enough for a good hook set, while still sensitive enough to feel the smallest bite. It's a great set up for a kids first real rod.

While the rod encourages to “never give up” my 6 year old son had to give up two days after Christmas once the rod tip broke. We pretend fish in the winter, but with loose drag and minimal force rod shouldn’t have broke. The 6lb test didn’t have a problem, nor did his 3 year old cheaper combo that has been through more. Not worth the $35 Mike Iaconneli sticker price for having to return and find something else for sure. Going to buy an ugly stick and pair with a zebco 33 micro. A little more expensive but should have some lasting power. Maybe just got unlucky on this one as initial thoughts were positive.

Poles are what they are. Youth offerings from a larger brand. Poles and reels work fine. A little long for my 6yo however he will grow into it.My complaint is with amazon and ups. Ordered two and did not need the second one. Product was shipped in a clear bag when it got to me. Return was simple drop it off at ups. Ups wanted to charge 19 after taxes to box and ship. Amazon would not assist after contacting customer service. So looks like I have an extra pole to add to the others in my shop.

Do yourself a favor and put new line on it as soon as it arrives. Other than that my 6 y/o loves it

Nice rod and reel for grandson. Can't wait to try it out in the spring.
