Arlo changed their cloud subscription model to make these worthwhile to me. I had cameras at 3 different locations and for awhile, Arlo made you have a separate subscription for each location. Now you can wrap that all together on their cloud in you account for a pretty reasonable price. The battery last a long time before recharging and the quality of the recordings is very good. I like that these don't need a central wifi hub. It's an easy setup and price point to quality is good.

It has a slight lag but it works perfectly. It gives me a sense of security and the view is great.

This 2nd generation model is being touted with "FOUR TIMES LONGER BATTERY LIFE". I bought one last November 2023 to replace my regular essential outdoor camera for the "FOUR TIMES LONGER BATTERY LIFE" and it misserably failed to deliver in Chicago winter.The "FOUR TIMES LONGER BATTERY LIFE" only last about 2 WEEKS with an average of 3 detections a day. My old regular essential outdoor with "REGULAR" battery last about 6 weeks in Chicago winter. Very dissapointed.Well, I guess, the old essential camera with "REGULAR" battery will be coming back up the front door and this one will be relagated to watching the sump pump in the basement.If you see a lot of VINE reviews, be wary about the product. Stay away if a company needs to give free products to get a favorable review.

Purchased two XLs for a relative's house that we monitor on our account. Just coming up on 1 year of operation with these. We just needed to watch her front door and driveway. 1080p is good enough for those spaces. Nice that it doesn't require a hub - I didn't want to buy another one.Impressed with battery life. I think they say the XL battery charge may be good for up to a year - yeah maybe with just a couple of short recordings per day. But we probably capture 20-30 minutes of video per day and the battery lasts close to 60 days between charges. The camera is significantly larger and heavier than the Pro2 cams I have at my house - the XL is all battery. Because of the weight, they can't use the magnet mounts - gotta use hard mounts. Battery is not removable/replaceable.I like the color night vision, but because it requires illumination from the spotlight, they don't see as far as they do when using infrared (IR). We have them set up for Smart Notifcations so we only get alerts when persons are detected (we don't get alerted at 3AM when a cat walks thorugh the yard). I've had 5 Pro2 cams at home for maybe 4 years now, had to go on a paid plan to add these. That gave me Smart Notifications (which I really like) and 30 days of recordings for up to 10 cameras. It's all been pretty reliable. I added a standard battery Essential camera to my house a few months ago, really just to have a driveway cam with color night vision (the rest are IR). Learned that having at least one color camera in a key location is good so you can get a better description of someone that you may need to report to the police. You can't even begin to guess clothing colors on an IR camera. Depending on the material, black clothes can look white under IR lighting. Dark colored cars can look really light too.I have a total of 8 Arlo cameras between 2 houses and have been very satisifed.

Video is great, especially at night. It’s better than my Pro 2 camera. Battery is holding charge and being an xl battery, there will be less charging. Came with all the necessary mounting hardware. Very easy to mount. It was easy to add to my existing Arlo home base, but you can just use WiFi. (No base required).

I purchased the 4 pack with one solar panel and Amazon has helped adding extra solar panels plus this one extra camera. Arlo is a great brand that I’ve gotten several other people interested in purchasing as well.

First, we are users of Arlo and are generally happy with Arlo. This product was sold to us via Amazon under false advertising. In its description, it said that no fees were required. That is not true. It worked very well with the Free Arlo Smart Trial. After that, it would not record any activity. Upon investigating and trying everything to get it to work, we Googled it and it said that this camera will not work, record that is, without paying a subscription. This is not fair. We will be asking for a refund. This camera does work well otherwise.

The media could not be loaded.  Buy them they are so good, many features, crispy pic, you can speak to unknown people, the camera will tell you if is animal or person takes pic . I will only buy this brand highly recommended I love it a lot. My son was talking to me to tell me some people was in the front yard I did not who was calling my name , I figured he was talking to me thru camera buy you will be delighted I know I was

This is the 4th Arlo camera we have purchased. This is a great little camera! Easy to install, software is a breeze to figure out. Let’s face it… you would pay $$$$ for a hard-wired, top quality security system with a hefty monthly fee. Arlo wants a monthly fee to store videos once motion is detected. It’s worth it!! It’s still far more economical than getting an overpriced system. We use it for a range of about 10-12 feet away and it’s perfect. Picture quality is amazing for this little camera. Will definitely purchase more Arlo products in the future!! Wish the siren on the camera was just a little bit louder… but it serves its purpose for us…..P.S. Buy the solar panel charger to go along with it. Works fantastic! We have lots of sun so charging camera with this is a breeze!!! Camera is up high and with this it basically takes care of itself!! Fabulous!!

This is my fourth purchase of an Arlo light. I am very satisfied as it was easy to setup, connect to my wifi and orient for my security requirements.

The video quality is very poor, you can see it's a person, but not the face. Can see the car but not the licence plate numbers. At night even with floodlight the quality is horrible.They call it "1-Year Battery Life" but mine lasted less than a week! Not reasonable.You must but subscription, otherwise there is no video storage. And they don't even have a web portal to view / manage it only from smartphone.

If the camera records absolutely NOTHING, no activity at all, maybe it'll last a year. But, c'mon people, a moderately busy yard drains the battery within weeks, not months. Good camera, software, and features otherwise.
