I have gone through 3 sets of these braces over the past 20 years. One set I regrettably lost in a move.i have to use them for carpal tunnel. What makes this brace different/ better is what some people don't like about it...but it is the very reason why it's good...it is stiff. The bend from wrist to palm puts you in the perfect position to open up the wrist.In addition, the part near the thumb is padded AND swivels!! This is HUGE!!! Most braces are not padded nor are the adjustable which causes chafing. Some braces have a velcro strap for the thumb but, again,it isn't "forgiving" and cuts into the thumb. My acupunturist who is also an orthopedic surgeon, my occupational and physical therapist all said this is the best brace they have seen.Yes, I'm trying to avoid surgery and this brace plus my NIR/infrared light have kept me going for 20yrs.I'm buying extra braces because I don't want to be without it. I recently was given a private brace with a fixed thumb and aluminum support that could not be adjusted and was not bent enough to open up the wrist. As a result I had a horrible flair up . I went back to my poor old tattered exoform brace.it took a few days but the pain is gone.
