The revolutionary ideology of ‘Anandmath’ worked to awaken social and political consciousness.
✨ Anand Math by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee✨The classic work ‘Anandmath’ by the famous Bengali writer Bankimchandra Chatterjee, known as India’s ‘Alexander Duma’, is written on the background of the terrible famine in Bengal and the Sanyasi movement. It was first published in 1882.The period described in ‘Anandmath’ and Hunter’s historical work ‘Annals of Rural Bengal’, G.R. There is considerable similarity between the facts contained in Glegg’s ‘Memoirs of the Life of Warren Hastings’ and the historical documents of that time. The revolutionary ideology of ‘Anandmath’ worked to awaken social and political consciousness. ‘Vande Mataram’, a song from this novel, later got the privilege of becoming the national song of India. From the past few months I had an inner urge to jump in the literary masterpieces of my own country India and I had heard a lot about Bankim Chandra Chatterjee so I decided I will get few of his works! Amongst his works the ones which got my attention the most were Anand Math and Mrinalni, so I got them both. This is a one of a kind book, for me I have never read a book like this one in the past, so each page of this book was like a peek into Indian history and taught me more about the people of India and how they not only struggled against external forces but also gave them a mouthful several times even while being at disadvantage in many of the encounters! The writing done is phenomenal, this book has drama, love for one's own country, thrill, a touch of romance, elements of unbelievable courage and suspense which leaves the reader in awe. The persona of all the characters in this book was of utter depth and had several layers to it, something which I have found only in the best of the books. If someone wants to read this one, its also available in english and I have shared few lines from the book both in Hindi and in English for you to contemplate whether or not you want to give this book a try!

Writer didn't bother clarifying things
The book uses Bangla time of unit so the year is written as 1170 which is correct because no one used to use the Gregorian calendar so anyone complaining about the year being wrong is just a little ignorant and didn't bother reading the book with attention. Also, the book editor or publisher should have mentioned it in the beginning to avoid confusion.Good things- The story is interestingBad things- Spoiler is printed when the chapter stars, so annoying and useless, very stupid behavior.- The Hindi is Sanskrit in many places. Hard to understand unless you are a Hindi literature student.- They didn't bother mentioning that the story only says good things about Brits because they forced the changes as the book was released in1882 when India was under British control.
