These is sturdy and will provide some impact protection. The front (screen and buttons) of course won’t be protected but works well when combined with a screen protector film. It is very simple design and the lanyard is what keeps it closed. You can also remove the belt clip, which I did as it is shiny and not good for hunting. But given there is almost no other protector out there for the 64 gps this one is the best by far. Only two things I would have liked to seen is maybe a nice carabiner instead of the cheap plastic clip, and on this color pattern a black belt clip instead of a shiny metal one. Add those two things and you get 5 stars.

I did not like the clamshel design, which you cinch together with the attached lanyard. From the pictures it seems like it fits over the entire unit like a true molded protectoin cover you would get for your cell phone. But looking at my GPS its already pretty rugged AS IS. I guess if your rock climbing it could be helpful but it won't protect the glass which would be critical in that scenario Finally the USB port is not accessible if you wanted to plug into a usb and charge it while tooling around in your ATV or snowmobile (my snowmachine has a USB port in the glove box for just this purpose). Overall it is a tough case but just adds unnecessary bulk when you could just add the garmin carabiner clip for much cheaper. It may be useful for a backpacker or trail hiker but I felt it made the buttoms more cumbersome to access and did not need that much protection.

Garbage. Talk about poor design. From the picture and description and cost I was expecting a high quality over-molded case. What I got was a cheaply made POS that opens and closes like a clam shell via a seam on the bottom... and get this nothing except the lanyard holds the case closed. What the heck - are you kidding me? Plus no place for a carabiner to clip it onto gear... heck even the factory belt clip has that. this thing is garbage. Don't spend your money.
