A nice, if not comprehensive, review of AMC products
A nice, if not comprehensive, review of AMC products. It follows the Rambler line from its inception as a separate AMC brand (or marque), to the eventual elimination of the name. This is done through a series of reprinted articles from various car performance/automotive review magazines of the time. It's interesting to see the rise and fall of a brand through the public's eye. That said, some color pictures would have been nice, as many of the black and white pictures do not read well. Also, spelling and grammatical error, as well as printing defects in the original articles are preserved here, making reading and clear comprehension difficult at times. An excellent view "from the outside, looking in" of AMC, as compared to its contemporaries.

Great reprints of car magazine road tests!
It helps to know what you are getting. When I saw from another review that these are mainly reprints of articles and road tests, I knew this was exactly what I wanted. Yes they are black and white reprints, but I have a couple of the road tests still in my own copies of the original magazines somewhere, and those originals were also black and white. Many models are covered, the dates ranging from 1956 through 1970. This may not be what some people will want, but for me it was exactly what I wanted.

Time Capsule...
This book is a compilation of auto enthusiast magazine articles from the past, and thus it offers an insight into what was expected from a car. AMC was always the small fish in a big pond, surviving only by filling market niches that the BIG THREE ie GM, Ford, and Chrysler ignored. Had it not been for the foreign import invasion from Europe and especially Japan, AMC would likely still be around today. But the small Kenosha, Wisconsin company barely managed to compete against it's Detroit cousins, and the import onslaught was the final nail in the coffin. Still, one has to wonder what a 2008 Ambassador, Matador, Hornet, Javelin, Rebel, and especially Pacer might have looked like !!

Disappointed to See Only a Collection of Magazine Articles
When I buy a book, I want new information--not an uncreative collection of reprint articles. The production...well, this is a disappointment.

Intéressante compilation d'essais.
Permet de bien comprendre l'évolution de la gamme American Motors durant les années 60 avec ses points forts et ses faiblesses.
