LOVEEEE
My Review:I first read this series in like 8th grade (maybe 9th. I’ve reread it a few times, but the last time was maybe 2020? So it’s been awhile. I was randomly thinking about it the other day and decided to do another reread. It’s just as good as I remember it being! It’s definitely geared more towards high school aged children, not adults but I’m a firm believer in reading whatever the heck you want to lol. It’s not childish or anything, but you can tell it’s Y/A easily. I don’t usually read Y/A any more but I’ve been reading some the past couple months (mostly rereads like this). I feel like Chloe is very naive, but in her defense she’s 15 and sheltered so that’s kind of to be expected. I love Derek so much and I always have. I really like Simon, but Rae is kind of just there and I don’t remember ever really caring about her. Tori is definitely a b!t(h, but I feel bad for her. Her mom is awful and her life seems complicated not more than anyone else’s though. It’s been so long that I can’t really remember much about her character development but I’m hoping for good things with her. I don’t like Chloe’s Aunt Lauren. Again it’s been forever so I can’t really remember much about her, but I didn’t like her at all through this book. This book is crazy and full of spooky ghosts and angsty teenagers, in a good way though.👻Ghosts💀Necromancer💉Science Experiments✨Magic🔮Witches/Warlocks/Wizards⛓️Group Home for Crazy Kids🚫/🌶️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

A Reading the Paranormal Recommended Read
Oh, my GLOB! I love this series so hard! SO HARD! It's been ages since I read it and now all these feelings are coming back to me. Chloe! Derek! Simon! Evil Tori! LIZ! If we can calculate my love for this series by the number of exclamation points I just threw down, I LOVE IT TONS! *throws in some fangirl flail for good measure*I want to start with the characters... Chloe is very appealing to me. She's not over-the-top brave when the book starts. She's a sweet girl who likes movies and isn't very remarkable. Then THINGS HAPPEN. Suddenly she's thrown into a situation that is very, very, VERY different from anything she's ever had to deal with. She blossoms as she comes to terms with what's happening to her. For the love of small furry animals, she stands up to Derek -- and he's a little rough around the edges at first glance.Derek... I kinda love the guy. I love that he's not the most sociable. He's smart enough to find the answers but he doesn't know when to stop pushing and let people come to grips with things in their own time. He's fiercely protective, which comes across as dangerous and surly to people who don't know him. When Chloe takes a chance and begins to trust him, he adds her to his pack. It's really kind of sweet.Simon... I like the guy, don't get me wrong, but he's a pale shadow next to Derek. Simon is charming and funny. He has some magical skill and he's as protective of Derek as Derek is of him. But... I'm smitten with Derek and his surly attitude and Simon just doesn't measure up.I (honest to gosh and all sorts of other things) ADORE this series. I love the twists and the turns, the betrayals and the bonds that are forged. I love that Chloe has to face some hard truths and that the boys are there to give her a bit of guidance.I will be rereading the rest of this series soooooon.-Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal

2nd Read Through
This is the second time I've read this book. The first time I read it was several years ago and I was wondering if it was as good as remembered. Glad to say it's just as good and I plan on rereading the rest of the series.

Addictive!
I've had this book in my TBR pile for awhile now and finally had a chance to get to it. I'm really glad I did because although I have other books waiting for review, I started the sequel immediately after finishing it. Armstrong created a group of great characters and a plot with plenty of twists and turns. It's very rare for a paranormal book to freak me out. I usually can read them into the wee hours and sleep soundly. However, this book gave me the chills and I had to switch to lighter reading at night. Armstrong is very talented at writing descriptions that bring you into the scene. I certainly felt as though I could see the same ghosts as Chloe and understand her terror. After her breakdown, the the first half of the novel is a little slow as we get to know the other residents of Lyle House. This book was mostly focused on Chloe coming to grips with her power and finding out what supernatural abilities the others in the house possess. By far, my favorite characters were Chloe and Derek. Is it weird that I want them together? Although his physical description wasn't appealing, their chemistry was phenomenal. The secondary cast of characters weren't one note and really added to the plot. The second half was excellent. The pacing picked up and readers become embroiled in the mystery surrounding Lyle House and why a home that's supposed to be for mentally ill teens has so many supernatural residents. A certain betrayal towards the end completely shocked me.The ending sort of left you hanging and that was one of the reasons I had to keep up with the series. Can't wait to see what happens.

Joya olvidada
Incluso releyendola 10 años después me sigue gustando.

Fantastic!
Wow! That's my overall reaction to The Summoning, Kelley Armstrong's first foray into YA novels. In case you can't tell, I loved it! The Summoning is the first book in the Darkest Powers series, and tells the beginning of the story of 15-year-old Chloe Saunders, who like every teenager, just wants to be a normal girl with normal high school interests and problems. At first it seems that Chloe might just be that normal girl. She has girlfriends, wants to go to the school dance, loves movies and is in the film club. Everything seems to be going according to plan, until one day when she starts seeing people that aren't there. At first Chloe assumes it must be her imagination, but when a mysterious janitor with severe burns chases her at school, Chloe understandably panics and reacts badly, landing her in a home for children with mental problems. Upon arrival at Lyle House, Chloe is relieved to see that it isn't so bad, and is determined to get well and get back to her normal life. But Lyle House turns out to be so much more than it originally appeared to be.As always, Armstrong has created a well thought out, and completely believable world that despite being populated by supernatural beings, never feels unrealistic. And like her Women of the Otherworld series, she brings both the readers and the characters into the supernatural world slowly, giving the characters the same doubts that we as the reader would have if someone told us they could see people that weren't there. As everyone in the story struggles to keep their secrets, we're given little clues that let us know that things are not as normal as they may seem, but we're also kept guessing all the way along, making for an exciting and compelling tale. The characters in The Summoning have more depth and personality than usually found in YA novels, and there are none of your standard jock, popular girl, and outcast stereotypes that often populate these novels, which is completely refreshing. The dialogue feels natural and flows well - with one slight exception. And this may just be a personal issue, but by the end of the novel I started to become frustrated by the fact that Chloe almost never gets to finish a sentence. This small issue in no way takes away from the wonderful story though. The Summoning is a fantastic and original story that will keep you engrossed until the very end. And when you come to that end, be prepared - the story does not end with a nice little bow to wrap things up, but instead finishes on a bit of a cliffhanger. I'm really glad that I have book two of the series The Awakening on hand so I can find out what happens next, because I can't wait! I highly recommend Kelley Armstrong's The Summoning to everyone who enjoys a great supernatural tale.

Absolutely loved it!!!
All I can say is give me more!!!!... I couldn't put the book down and I read all 3 books one after the other and loved them all. :)I absolutely loved that it is written in 1st person. I think a story that is written in first person, draws you in more and you find yourself more connected to the characters and the story.I have written more in my reviews of the other two books in this series. lol yes, I am back to front and wrote a review for the last one first and the second book, second and now finishing it off with the review for the first book.Just read it and form your own opinion :)

Teenagers of the Otherworld
Was Kelley Armstrong mit ihrer Reihe "Women of the Otherworld" begonnen hat, wird hier meisterhaft fortgeführt.
