4.5 Stars!
There are some spoilers for the first book, TAKING TURNS, in this review because they are linked stories.Quin, Bric, Smith are long-time friends who enjoy multiple partner sex, and run an exclusive gentleman’s club in Denver where the wealthy choose to share their wives and mistresses with each other. These guys and Rochelle were involved in a kinky four-way sex game for three years, until Rochelle left another woman in her stead. While these three may have been “with” Rochelle, they all certainly availed themselves of the club’s bounty as well. Rochelle was the tenth girl in this position in more than a decade, and she lied a life of luxury and decadence, but it wasn’t enough in the long run. Rochelle’s replacement, Chella, captivated Smith who fell hard for her and decided to leave their long-running game for an exclusive relationship. Quin was devastated by Rochelle’s disappearance. He had begun to acknowledge his deeper feelings for her. All of this was revealed in TAKING TURNS, the first book in the series. And, Rochelle got tired of the game. She loved Quin alone, and she expected he wouldn’t drop out of the game to be with her…and she had bigger reasons for wanting an exclusive relationship: a pregnancy. When Quin learns that Bric’s advice to Rochelle regarding the pregnancy was callous, he’s even further upset. Despite their agreement to never try to reconnect with one of their past lovers, Quin wants Bric to find Rochelle and make things right. Bric…is not interested. He’d rather just find a new girl to share with Quin, but Quin’s despondency drives him away from Bric, the club, and the menage lifestyle.Chella can’t bear to see Quin suffer any longer, and enlists a freelance bounty hunting friend to find Rochelle, and Bric’s the contact. He’s determined to tell Rochelle to stay away, but when he meets her, and her daughter of unknown paternity–she’s only 6 months old and looks much like Rochelle–he sees a new opportunity. Bric’s not been happy with his sex life since Quin stopped playing the game. Rochelle wants Quin, and Bric wants both of them–so he convinces Rochelle to return and make amends so the three of them can pick up a new game, or make a menage of their own. This appeal s to Rochelle, who’s been lonely, and who wants Quin any way she can have him…now. Because this year of self-imposed exile has convinced her that a life sharing the one you love seems better than a life without the one you love.Quin isn’t ecstatic when Rochelle returns, however. He’s burning mad that she disappeared without telling him about the pregnancy, and how he missed all the changes of her body and birth of his daughter. They’ve agreed, for now, not to do a paternity test so both Quin and Bric can assume fatherhood. Bric moves Rochelle into his own personal penthouse apartment and fawns all over the baby, and Rochelle. Quin’s not fooled, recognizing that Bric’s playing a deeper game than before, but he also wants Rochelle more than ever. And, as the days go by, he’s experiencing his own need for more than a menage–for an exclusive relationship with his lover and their daughter. But, will Rochelle fall for Bric in the meantime? This was an interesting story with lots of twists, turns, and sex. There’s no denying the sexual tension, but there’s a lot of intrigue, too, with master puppeteer Bric orchestrating his desired outcome: a longstanding menage with Quin and Rochelle, while also maintaining his ‘bachelor-ish’ status. Rochelle can’t trust him, and Quin sees through him, but Rochelle believes she needs Bric to bring Quin closer, and Quin believes he needs Bric to hold Rochelle’s attention. I liked the emotional swings in the book. I liked how these people aren’t near as callous or carefree as they appear on the surface. I like how they think often about each other, when it seems like they are thinking only of themselves. I liked how Rochelle gave Smith what-for, and how he had to make amends in the end. Because he was a big jerk to her, a lot, for no good reason. And, I liked that the ending is happy, for Quin and Rochelle. Bric, well, he has another book to get his life in order. We got a lot more insight on all the players in this game, and Bric, though he seems monstrously self-centered, is clearly not the bad guy we’ve come to expect. Looking forward to wrapping up this series soon!

A second chance to play the game again!
The journey continues in the Turning series with Turning Back, book 2 of this three book series. In the first book, we learned that the woman that had been playing the game with Quin, Bric and Smith was suddenly gone and left another woman in her place. Rochelle just disappeared without any explanation to the guys. That was one of the rules of their game. If she wanted out, she could leave at any time. But to do it without telling them why, after three years of playing the game? Not cool, Rochelle, not cool. So the guys played the game with the new woman, Chella, and it was great, until she and Smith fell in love and left the game.So that left just Bric and Quin, and Quin has been a shell of himself ever since Rochelle left because he's in love with her. And her sudden departure pretty much gutted him. Then, suddenly Rochelle is back. And as happy as Quin is to see her, he's mad and hurt and doesn't trust her. How could she just leave him the way she did? We get the answers to those questions, but in classic Julie style, the answers are interwoven throughout the book and revealed little by little through scenes and conversations held between not just Quin and Rochelle, but the other characters too, and we see the puzzle pieces slowly falling into place.Julie delves really deep into the character development of Quin, Bric and Rochelle in this book. I already loved Quin from book 1 because of his easygoing and lovable personality, but Bric was pretty much an enigma. I could never get a grasp on his true personality or what his motives were. That becomes pretty clear in this book. There were plenty of moments where I loved Bric to death, and others where I just wanted to choke him for the games he played. And no, I don't mean "that game" I mean other games he played to manipulate situations to get the end results he wanted.Getting back to "that game" Bric manages to talk both Rochelle and Quin into starting a new game. But obviously it's a very different game because now it's just two guys and the girl, so is that just a ménage a trois? Will the same rules work that were used in the previous game? Things are starting to get confusing, lines are getting crossed, emotions are high, and there aren't even supposed to be any emotions involved, because this is just a game, right? The sex, oh the sex. I have no clue how Julie manages to keep writing sex scenes that are just as hot and exciting as the first time I read one of hers, but she does. Holy wow can she write a sex scene! I think the scenes in this book were even hotter than the first because there aren't as many players involved, and they felt way more intimate. And I guess they would be, since Quin and Bric have been playing the game for more than a decade. They know each other inside and out, they know exactly the moves to make and how to feed off each other in each scene. And they aren't afraid to cross the lines, to touch each other in the ways they know will drive each other mad with lust, the ways that will make the game the hottest it can be. And holy crap, hot it was!! Damn...just damn...What I love about each and every book that Julie writes, is she weaves some of the most intricate and convoluted stories. She lays the groundwork, drops hints all throughout the story that makes me start guessing as to what is going on, and then by the time the books ends, I haven't guessed anything correctly and I'm left with the WTF look on my face, saying, "I wasn't expecting THAT to happen" or "whoa, did she really go there?" She definitely loves to mess with our heads all the way through each book.So even though Smith is out of the "game" he's still an integral part of the team, and his scenes in the book were some of my absolute favorite. I had no clue this dude could be so damn funny! Talk about someone doing a complete 360 from how we saw him in the first book. Chella has obviously had a huge impact on this guy's life! I still sit back and chuckle at some of his antics and the things that came out of his mouth a week after finishing the book!! But as funny as he came across in this book, he made it very clear that he is still very invested in his two friends' lives and has their backs no matter what.Book 3 is going to be very interesting. It's going to hard to wait for the conclusion to this series!

Loved this one even more than the first!!!
Turning Back is the second book in the Turning series and while technically it could be read as a stand-alone, I personally feel you should read book one - Taking Turns - to fully understand the dynamic friendship these gentleman have. As with most everything this author writes she captures your attention from the epilogue and leaves you guessing until the final chapters and this one is no different. This book deals with much more BDSM elements than the first one and is in no way for the faint of heart ( reader discretion and all that...).Rochelle Bastille was the perfect player for three years until she up and left, leaving town without any explanation. A year to the day has passed and new information has come to light regarding her whereabouts. The game has fallen apart, does Bric go after her and bring her back to Denver to start fresh or will Quin never forgive him for what happened...Quin was devastated when she left especially after he found out why. Now she is back in Denver apologizing for all that went down, but can he ever trust her again...This book brought sexy and sinful to an entirely different level! No one writes ménage as well as Huss did in this book. Seriously can't wait to read the final addition to the series :)

Fabulously and unexpectedly emotional read
I started this book expecting something pretty hard core and dark and found myself feeling all sorts of warm and fuzzies, especially for Bric, which was completely unexpected. As a starting point, I would recommend you read the first book or you will probably get quite confused quite quickly. This book picks up soon after the first book and focuses on Quinn and Bric. Quinn is broken after the departure of Rochelle from the game and has cut all ties with Bric. Bric, continues with life, the club and ' looking' for Rochelle......... as their patches are literally forced to cross, It quickly becomes clear that they have missed each other and their deep connection. You also get to understand how the 'game' developed.Once Rochelle comes back on the scene, emotions are literally ripped apart. Quinn is angry..... at everyone and does not want to back down. Bric goes all sort of warm and emotional and it all comes out with Rochelle in some pretty steamy scenes. Throw in Adley and you have an emotional rollercoaster that makes for a gripping read with plenty of surprises and a complete insight into how the game began and the boys came together and needing each other. You also get a lot of warm and fuzzies.Smith and Chelle feature heavily in the book and I loved the way their life has changed and developed. Smith and the fur babies are one of the best bits (love a fur baby)Can't wait for the final book. Another fabulous read from Julie.

Amazing book !!!!!
Book two in the Turning Back series and boy did I love this book. Great writing as usual by Julie Huss who's imagination is endless and intriguing and this book has all the angst and eroticism that the first book did only better. This follows straight on from book one when Rochelle has left the game leaving Bric and Quinn devastated and broken, especially Quinn. Smith has now decided to exit the group so that leaves two hot sexy males left to play the game and what a game they play. A year passes by without Rochelle, a year for Quinn to grieve his loss. He's brooding, angry, worried for her and her whereabouts, so when an opportunity is presented to her by an unexpected source Rochelle decides to return to the game and to the men she left behind much to Quinn's anger. He is hurt and disappointed she decided to leave without even telling him and he is finding it really hard to forgive, whereas Bric - well what a pleasant suprise I had reading his character in this book, he invaded my heart, I swooned over him and got lost in his personality change - yep I really digged Bric in this book !!!So now after much debating, rows, makeup's and questions asked but still so many to be answered, we have two men and one woman back playing the game - or are they ?So many secrets, so much hurts and anger simmering just waiting to come to the boil; this book will keep you on the edge of your seat the whole way through. The sex is steamy, erotic and perfect, better than the first book in my opinion, but what really makes this book is we get involved a lot more with the characters and find out what makes them tick and just like the last book we get 3 POVS from each character's feelings and thoughts and this is so well thought out - so clever and lets the reader really evolve in the character they are reading about. Even though Smith has left the game he and Chelle are very prominent in this book which added to the enjoyment for me.The first book must be read to understand this one but both books will take you on an unusual journey - it will have you stopping and asking yourself questions, you might need to take a break and think about what your reading but the reward is worth every minute of every page.Awesome stuff and I can't wait for book three - Bric's story.

Sexy, provocative, erotic... Full of secrets and lies. Brilliant, a must read!
A sexy, provocative, erotic menage. Turning Back is book 2 in The Turning Series. THREE super hot sexy males and one woman has now turned into TWO super hot sexy males and a woman as Smith Baldwin has exited the game. The heat in this book was scorching, wow oh wow does JA Huss pen a deliciously hot sex scene that melted my kindle. To add to that, this author has filled this book to the brim with angst, I was already hooked from reading Taking Turns.. This book just sucked me in deeper. Brilliantly written and a genius of a plot!But... OMG! This book frustrated the hell out of me... secrets, lies, ulterior motives... it was all going on in spades... I bloody loved it!! This book picks up where book one left us hanging, with Rochelle Bastille making contact with Elias (Bric) Bricman. A crying baby in the background. In the previous book we knew that Rochelle had fallen in love with Quinn Foster. Feelings are not allowed into the game...? We also know that Quinn was hung up on her too. So what the hell did she leave?!? This question hung like a black cloud over the entire first book and pretty much over 80% of Turning Back. For the most part of this book I felt like Alice in Wonderland... What's real? Red herrings and false roads galore and just when I thought I might have worked it out, my theory all came crashing down around me as the truth was revealed. I was rendered speechless... The intensity of the story at certain parts of this book was palpable.I thought the pace of this book was better than the first; more so because I had a reasonable understanding of 'The Game'. Told from a multiple POV they decide to play a "new game new rules" with just the three of them now Smith is out. From the minute Rochelle returned the manipulation games and secrets continued. Both Quinn and Bric decide to be the baby's father and make a go of being a thriple, no DNA test, they could both do this... Good plan to start with, but what of the feelings between Rochelle and Quinn that saw Rochelle leave the game in the first place?? We start to see a different side to Bric a side that made me want to know more. A side I started to fall in love with...The scenes with Bric and Adley; whoa if that didn't melt my heart and ovaries. There's something super sexy about a man going all gooey over a baby.I liked the fact that Smith and Chella was still involved and that we didn't lose sight of them after they left the game. This series has been nothing like I have ever read previously. Great progression, great character development and a very unique storyline. I love books with secrets and lies. Books that really set your heart racing to get to the truth. I can't wait for the final installment and to learn Bric's story. Show us what you've got Elias Bricman, I'm ready for you!!

Another great read from JA Huss ❤️❤️
And then there were three. Rochelle, Quin and Bric. The thriple. When the three of them are together, it works perfectly. They are in sync with each other because it's so natural for them. But then it isn't.A lot of questions answered in the second instalment of The Turning Series and new sides to people that was completely unexpected! Elias Bricman really surprised me and made me fall in love with him and I was rooting for him all the way through but then Julie does was Julie does and whips my head the other way. And Smith and his babies made me laugh out loud! This story is so hot and beautiful and sad and funny, I'm not even joking when I say this is an really enjoyable bumpy ride! Prepare for all the emotions! The addition for Adley really made the story because it brought out traits in people that you weren't expecting. I loved this story so bloody much and cannot wait for the last book in the series.

Good Book
Well I really enjoyed Quin & Rochelle’s story and just didn’t expect why they each thought they weren’t good enough for the other.I did say in my review for the first book that I thought Bric was broken but damn that bit in Lucinder’s office got to me as he had been so damn cute in his relationship with Adley that I did feel gutted for him. However like he said himself he is the cool Uncle the one who bails you out and doesn’t tell your parents.I think this new girl is going to be exactly what he needs.
