Living Peace: A Spirituality of Contemplation and Action

An excellent message for people in the world today where concentration on war and conflict are prevalent. John Dear steers us towards our own individual path to a non-violent life with steps that make sense. Follow the teachings of Jesus who asks us to love everyone including our enemies. Basically it's the Golden Rule - Do Unto Others What You Would Have Done to Yourself. The journey starts with ourselves and evolves to our communities and thus to everyone in the world.

Talk about peace everywhere is cheap and present everywhere. My own life is full of peace talk. It takes a book like this to show us how to translate all that cozy, fuzzy talk into action, and for that alone this is an important book. Fr. Dear is clearly a man who walks his talk, and the result is this beautiful, practical and inspiring roadmap to a useful life of peace. I will be re-reading this often.

A very brief yet decent book, the book to a religious stance that I wasn't prepared for, but it was well welcomed.

Fr. John Dear presents peace, gentleness, goodness and non-violence so attractively and persuasively and one easily recognizes it as a mark of the true Christian.

This book should be required reading for all Christians. If enough did, we would have a beautiful world. Violence is eating the soul and heart out of this country. We need to turn it around and make the love of Jesus our guiding principle.

wonderful spiritual read

We purchased this book for our Library in response to a request from a reader who had read other books by John Dear. The feedback is very good.
