This product is so superior to the competition. Very accurate and the speed makes it a pleasure to use. Great for kids since it provides a reading so quickly.

Great replacement for my last one. easy to use / store. Easy to read, & clean between uses. This product arrived in a timely manner, & was not damaged. Priced at market values.

This thermometer does not come with a case to keep it clean. I find this to be a major disadvantage. It did come with a spare battery taped to the plastic container it was laying in. Some of the positive features do not work well. The backlighting is on very briefly. It comes on as soon as the temperature reading is completed, but only remains on for about one second after it is removed from the mouth. One must look quickly or have a good room light going. The beep upon completion of the temperature reading does not happen half the time. When it does beep, 90% of the time it is VERY soft, nearly inaudible. Only once (admittedly, I have only had this a few days, but currently there is illness in the house) did it beep loudly enough so that I could clearly hear it. And my hearing is pretty good.I do have to trust that it is accurate. There is no reliable way for me to test it. I do appreciate that the display is large, and while briefly backlit, is very easy to read. The on-off switch is simple to use, a definite plus. I will, however, continue to look for one with a case and better backlighting.

The Good:The claimed 8 second reading time is for real.Once a reading is made it will either softly beep slowly 10 times then display temp with a nice green backlight with normal temp  OR it will softly beep rapidly 10 times then display temp with a red backlight with a temp above 100.4 (farhenheit). It can easily be switched from farhenheit to celsius and will provide results as above only in celsius.The display is large and easy to read with nice backlight.It seems accurate, at the very least consistent, as successive readings have been the same and when I drank cold water to make sure it wasn't stuck the reading was down half a degree.The build quality seems solid.  There was one rating that the power button is cheap and had broken but mine looks quite secure.  Time will tell.Using it is comfortable and the larger body is easy to hold.Comes with an extra battery.The "Not So Good":An issue for many but it is "Made in China".It does not come with a storage case but it does come in a nice protective box that has room for the instruction manual but it will take up more space in storage.Upon starting the backlight does go out before the "Lo" ready indicator shows which threw me off the first couple uses.

I bought a second one... the first is over two years old and still accurate.Great quality.

At beginning of covid I ended up purchasing 3 different thermometers because switches were horrible or worse to use. This one has a great switch that is very easy to operate. Clean lines and appears to be very accurate. Great buy!! The other 3 are going into the trash in about 5 minutes!!

Opened box, took temperature 6 times in a row to test, and got six different temperatures, from 96.0 to 98.4. Why even make something if its so cheap

Note that this is not an "instant read" thermometer. When you have a squirming kid, 8 seconds is a long time. Especially when there are oral thermometers on the market that can give you an accurate read within 2-3 seconds. This isn't false advertising, since they don't claim it's an "instant read" thermometer. But it does say "within" 8 seconds. My experience--it's never less.I'm concerned about the accuracy. I compared it to another thermometer I had when I first got it for a baseline, on my (healthy) self, and it was within .2-3 on that test. (I wanted two, so that when both kids were sick at the same time, I could use one for each.) Now that I need it when my kid actually has a fever, it's reading almost a full degree lower than the other one, consistently. I don't know if it's the other one or this one that's changed, or if it just can't handle a moving child. It almost feels as though it's not done reading when it beeps, but nothing you can do about it. There's no leaving it in longer. When it thinks it's done, it's done.The tip is hard and inflexible. Overall, not impressed and am planning to purchase something different.
