Garmin Edge Touring Plus Navigator (Certified Refurbished)

This is exactly what I have been looking for. I've been wanting something that would take me to unfamiliar places without me having to stop every couple of kilometers to make sure I wasn't off course. I wish I had bought this a couple of years ago when it first came out.I can't give it 5 stars, however, because some frustrations with the programming:1. Navigation/Tracking Turns Off Without Warning - First, the "RIDE" button doesn't do what it says. After you push "RIDE", you have to then push the timer start button, or your navigation/tracking doesn't start. Second, if you push the "HOME" button, check or change any of your settings, change ANYTHING about your route, or turn the unit off and back on (or it powers itself off automatically), the navigation/tracking turns off without warning. Of course, the thing DOESN'T TELL YOU that you're not navigating or tracking, you just realize at some point that your distance hasn't changed in 15-20 minutes. When this happens (and it happens to me several times a ride), you have to remember to push the timer start button to start tracking, again.2. It Handles Waypoints Terribly (or Not At All) - If you plan a route with several waypoints, and you allow the unit to recalculate your route, IT SKIPS ALL OF THE WAYPOINTS AND GOES STRAIGHT TO THE FINISH. Who in the hell wants this to happen? To avoid this, you have to either program each waypoint, cycle to it, and then program the next one. If you're following a downloaded GPX or TCX course, you must turn off re-routing.Be aware that the refurbished models can have some issues. My first one had a defective battery (max runtime of about 3 hours, no matter what I did). I returned it. The second one has a dead pixel on the bottom of the screen, and some scuffing along the side, but neither was enough for me to bother with returning it.

I've only had it for about two weeks.. I'll update if I experience any new functions or faults.. About 7 short rides and this thing has kept time and functions like the proverbial clock.. Pushing the timer is just like pushing an icon or switch that initiates navigation Simple.. Also, I switch around pages, and units of measure while navigating without the unit stopping or loosing data... I really like this GPS.. It is an earlier model that doesn't support blue tooth.. The only caveat in my book.. It just seems to have an edge in functionality over most the newer stuff..

Likes: this is a refurbished model and out of the box works like a charm.Dislikes: I was not able to connect via Garmin Connect... thus the data is not easily shared to STRAVA. also Garmin has a very poor website/instructions. Better to simply use the Internet and other users to figure out how to use the device.

Worthless, just out of the box the unit gets frozen at the mid of the ride, is not able to complete the whole ride or training. I had to contact to warranty Garmin, I followed all the steps they told me and still is failing (same), we'll see what happens, if the change the unit or they repair it.

Garmin has a variety of GPS for cycling. I wanted anther one with more than just how fast I was going and timer. This with included maps will make riding in new territories (like on vacation) a breeze. Plus, I will always find my way back with can be challenging in new areas.

Product was delivered quickly and is like new! Packaged with all new accessories and works flawlessly. I needed a Garmin device that gives/tracks basic cycling functionality, speed, time, distance, average, heart-rate etc.... and this does exactly that. My other major need was to have a device I could download .gpx maps into, and this does that too. I'm purchasing another one of these for my wife.
