KrownPhone Strobe Flasher

Counterintuitively, I purchased this because I enjoy listening to music using a closed headphone system.I'm a small businessperson and the only one to monitor the phone - I was constantly stressing over how best to enjoy my music while working.It was either listening at a very quiet level which is very unenjoyable, skewing one earpiece off the side of my noggin so that I could listen for the ring, missing important phone calls and dealing with stymied clients who don't like leaving messages, or just giving up music altogether. (listening in the open isn't an option since my office has thin walls and neighboring businesses who don't appreciate AC/DC, Rev Theory and Hinder at full volume <g>)And this went on for YEARS.It occurred to me that there was another option.I honestly couldn't be more happy with the purchase of this Krown unit!Now I crank up my music which no one else but myself can hear - and when the phone rings - bingo, a quick click of the iPod and I'm promptly on the line.Worth every penny for the freedom it provides.

it wasn't right for my phone system

My father can barely hear the phone ring in his assisted living room. This is exactly what he needed. It is bright and very hard to miss. He never misses a phone call now. So easy to install too.

could have a longer cord. Having difficulty in locating an extension. But otherwise GREAT.

I bought this so my hearing impaired father could see phone calls coming in while he is in his wood shop. Unfortunately it works better in a darker room. He is still missing calls unless he is facing the strobe when they come in.

My mother-in-law now resides in a nursing home. Though not technically deaf, her hearing isn't as good as it used to be; as a consequence, when she watches TV (much of the day) she wears headphones. As a result, she wound up missing most of the calls which came to her room, as she couldn't hear the phone's ringer. This strobe solved everything. Now she's alerted whenever a call is coming in for her, and it was really simple to hook up.

I bought this to "hear" the phone while wearing earphones during audio editing. But it does not work nearly as well as a real "strobe" that produces very bright flashes. This unit is a row of bright LEDs with a plastic dispersion "lens." I don't notice the blinking LEDs in my lighted office unless the unit is within in my line of sight. The only way it works as I need is to dim the office lights enough so that the relatively dim LEDs will reflect enough light to get my attention. I also added a phone extension cord so that I can put the gadget on top of the mixing board. So if that mode works for you this is an OK unit. But don't expect the strobe action of a fire alarm of other visual warning device.

This is a useful item for those of us who need help knowing when we have an incoming phone call. It is easy to install and set up but the light could be a little brighter and the ringer a little louder.
