Ec soil meter
So glad i bought this!. I was way off on my plant feeding and this helped me solve the issue. Now i know exactly whats in the soil. Just makevsure you get some calibration fluid when you order. Mine had to be calibrated out of the box.

Not accurate for USA users
If you're in the USA and use this, I suppose the EC part of it will work fine. But if you're wanting to use it to measure TDS, BE AWARE that it uses the 700 ppm Australian scale and not the 500 scale which is what is used in the USA.If you take a TDS measurement with this it will read higher than what the standard used in the US is so you will get an inaccurate reading unless you convert the number to the 500 scale number.

Accurate and easy to use
The probe was fairly off when compared to my Blue Lab EC meter out of tgebkx the box, but recaloubrwas easy and fixed the issue. Reads accurately within 0.01 EC. Calibration solutions can easily be made at home with distilled water and table salt.

An inexpensive way to test salt level in soil
I had my garden soil tested by a professional lab and discovered that the salt level was very high. I bought this soil tester to measure the EC value. Discovered that the horse manure was very high in salt and was the main reason for the high salt level in the soil. High salt levels makes it more difficult for plants to absorb nutrients from the soil. Many gardeners make the mistake of adding too much fertilizer when plants aren't growing well. Many times the problems are high salt, high amounts of metals or soil borne pathogens.Difficult to judge the accuracy of this device but it seems to come close to the lab results. For best results I mix a soil sample with some water to make a thick slurry. Then I insert the probe and read the result. An EC value of less than 1 is desirable. When values get over 3, you probably have problems. Some plants like tomatoes are more tolerant of salt while others like beans and lettuce are not.

Horrendous battery life
It measures my ec so at least that's right. The buttons don't work all the time, it skips over the ppm mode for some odd reason, and the hattery life is beyond atrocious. I'm lucky if I get a whole week of use only turning it on the check the ec before feeding. With the money I've spent on batteries for this thing I could have just bought a cheap ec wand and I should have. I have a ph meter that was half the price that stays on all the time and is still on it's factory batteries. Don't buy this it's not any better that a twenty dollar tds meter. It's actually much worse.

Giving very consistent readings
I have had my eye ona soil meter for a while because I am new to growing and have been having some issues with optimal growth. This meter is very easy to use right out of the box and has been giving very consistent readings. I can’t wait to see how well I can grow my plants now that I can see what is going on in my soil. Very excited for the next grow!

Not comparable to measuring runoff
When you run nutrients through your plants and measure the runoff ec vs using this meter, there's a huge difference. Not reliable at all
