CURT15312 Xtra Duty Class 5 Trailer Hitch, 2-In Receiver, Compatible with Select Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Sierra 2500, 3500 HD, Long-Bed

Took longer to get rusted original hitch bolts out than it took to install new

This hitch came with very clear installation instructions and was very easy to install; there were just six bolts. Four of the bolts are included and two are reused from the old hitch which threads into the factory weld nut on the bumper flanges. The hardest part was its 69 pounds was awkward when you're lying on your back, and "yes," two people would've been easier, but I improvised by using two lengths of heavy wire to hold it up while I got the bolts in, assisted by some fancy hip and leg action. It was really pretty easy. I needed this hitch, the 15312, which is meant for the "factory cutout" bumper". (The stock bumper with the depressed area in the middle for the license plate - the "cutout. See the attached photo). The other similar hitch, the 15313 made for the same truck, is for a different/bigger bumper. (see the difference in the second photo: the 15313 is on the top and the 15312 is on the bottom). I bought that one initially, realized it after installing it, and had to turn around and buy the 15312, and return the 15313. Live and learn! The Amazon fitment guide said it would work, but could have been clearer about the bumper issue. However that being said, both are incredibly sturdy hitches compared to OEM, and very easy to install...and uninstall! Believe me I know! My fault though, I should have researched it more.

Hitch is sturdy as heck, so sturdy that they ship the thing in a padded bag. It arrived outside of the packing material. Hitch had scuffs all over it.

Received my new hitch today. Had the old hitch removed and new one installed in less than an hour from the time it was delivered! Can’t believe what an upgrade this is from the factory hitch. Very heavy duty and the finish looks like it will hold up for many years. You need to reuse the existing 14mm bolts in the far back of your hitch. All other hardware was grade 8. Couldn’t be more pleased with the quality and ease of installation!

Hitch took about a week to arrive. I compared it to the original that was on the truck and the bolt holes did not match. I made measurements on the truck and found that this hitch uses one different hole on each frame rail than the original. No drilling was necessary. I was able to install it myself by placing the hitch on 5 gallon buckets and lifting one side up the rest of the way to the frame rail. Installation was easy. It took about 45 minutes. It is heavier duty than the OEM that came with the truck. The only downside is that it does not have a mounting bracket for the wiring harness. Overall, this is a great product. It worked very well for what I needed.

Box came totaled! Put I big heavy hitch in a box way bigger than the item inside with no packing. Hitch was not even for my truck as labeled “it fits” according to Amazon. It was for a long bed. I had to find the correct hitch Myself and amazon said “it doesn’t fit” but it did. Hitch itself is great!

I put this on my 02 Silverado 3500. A lot better than the stock one that came off that's rusted. I will get a lot of use out of this one.

Heavy duty and just plain HEAVY! Definitely have a buddy help lift it into place!! I love this hitch, it bolted right up to the factory location, using all 6 bolts. Other hitches I have seen only have 4 and bolt to other locations. Of course, now that I have the new hitch installed, I'm just waiting to use it! You do have to order a new connector bracket if you are installing this from the factory setup, as this doesn't come with one.

I got this hitch to replace my older class 3 hitch and I have to first say that it is an impressive looking step up from the OEM hitch. I am confidant that it will hold my RV with no problems. Make sure to use the Curt sizing list to get the right one for your specific vehicle. The only problem for me with this one was installing it while laying on my back and doing bolts under the truck. Lucky for me, I had my son there to lift the 65 pound hitch while I did up the bolts. I look forward to many years of RV'ing with this hitch. I bought a smaller one for my son's car as a bike carrier and he is very pleased. That is 2 for 2 Curt. Thanks.

Came fast, bolted up perfectly! Just towed 14,000 with it. She's a beaut!
