Ori and The Blind Forest for Nintendo Switch

I really enjoyed playing this game. The word "Metroidvania" has become a pretty popular video game term and this game is a great example of it. Ori and the Blind Forest has some elements of both the original Metroid and Castlevania games on the NES, which are both games I grew up with. Also reminds me of some other classic games such as Megaman and even Sonic the Hedgehog. This game is super difficult but fun enough that the challenge is worth it. As you play, you learn skills that'll open up the map to you. In the end you really have to master those skills to advance. Split second timing is essential. I got a great feeling of satisfaction when I finally beat it. Took me a couple of weeks, I'd say at least 20 hours of playing. The story is a little sad and a little sweet but takes a backseat to the gameplay. Graphics and music are fantastic!Just a couple of cons: First of all, there are no bosses. At the end of a few areas there are rush sections where you furiously have to outrun stuff like rising water or flowing lava. This is where the mastery of skills comes in. I think some boss fights would've made this game more awesome. The other thing I wasn't crazy about is that this game will absolutely drain the battery in handheld mode. I just use the Switch Lite and I found I had to recharge it every 2 hours or so, which is more often than just about any other game I've played on the Lite.I would recommend this game for old school gamers like myself who grew up playing some of the games I've mentioned, or anyone that enjoys the classic side scroller. Can't wait to play the sequel!

Got this for my son for Xmas and he has been enthralled. He's an adult and was here for Xmas week and I was able to watch him play a lot and it is simply a stunning game. He's a avid gamer and found some parts challenging but in an enjoyable way. I wish I were not a newbie to gaming because I so wanted to play but could tell some of the harder parts would be well beyond me. But the music/artwork is magical and takes you to another world. The game seems like it will take a good while to finish. Who could ask for more?

Graphics are amazing! Storyline was amazing.

I don't write many review, especially glowing ones, but this is a well-deserved one.The game itself is well on the way to becoming a classic. It is as beautiful, moving, difficult (there is no shame in choosing "Easy" mode for this one) as many other reviews here and elsewhere have already claimed.One aspect I want to focus on is this Switch port, coming from a Microsoft (XBox) exclusive. The original developer, Moon Studios, didn't choose the easy route of most (mediocre) ports, delegating it to a 3rd party company specializing in ports. Instead they cared enough to to do it themselves, and in the process do incredible optimization work and thus create one of the best technical achievements on the Switch. This applies of course as much to Blind Forest as well as the sequel, Will of the Wisps.While it works great in portable mode, I think it very much deserves to be played with a Pro Controller on a big TV in its full 1080p 60fps glory, with a good sound system to enjoy the great orchestral soundtrack.(For those interested a bit more in the technical details, Digital Foundry's YouTube channel has some great videos on the subject, incl. an interview with the developers themselves on all their hard work. If you thought 2D (2.5D ?) was easier than 3D you might surprised...)[edit: typos]

You will get lost in this immersive world. It's beautiful, the story telling is such a deep style that you'll find yourself wanting to power through, but those puzzles will force you to take a break. Strategic in how you build up Ori's growth, gameplay can change depending on your personal preference. Though the story is linear, the need to backtrack is actually comforting because you don't fixate on having to find everything the first time you encounter a new area.And play with the sound loud, it's full of gorgeous soundscapes.

I had just come off of Hollow Knight and was looking for a new metroidvania to play. I saw so many good reviews for this game online and heard my friends praising it so much, but I was pretty underwhelmed. Combat was as simple spamming the attack button, everything felt too floaty, the bloom effect was so intrusive that I could hardly tell what was happening half the time, the world felt very disjointed... Needless to say, I'm not too impressed with this game. That being said, it is gorgeous and may play better on the XBox or PC.

Sobre este videojuego, debo decir que es uno de los mejores y más bonitos a nivel visual que he podido tener la oportunidad de jugar, la optimización para Nintendo Switch es muy buena, diría que excelente y el juego en si, es toda una experiencia que SI o SI se debe tener en alguna oportunidad, ya sea en Xbox o Switch. La historia te puede atrapar con facilidad, el apartado visual y sonoro es superior, la jugabilidad es estupenda y se lleva con creces todos los halagos. Maravillosa obra del diseño de juegos tipo Metroid-Vania. Muy recomendado.

A masterpiece, one of the best games of all time, Ori and the blind forest is a pixar movie reproducing with a Disney movie and making a video game baby. Absolutely incredible, a must have and must play!

Lo compré por curiosidad. De hecho, compré los dos. Me sorprendió bastante. Es un excelente juego. Tiene una buena trama, muy bonitos gráficos, una gran banda sonora. No toma mucho tiempo terminarlo. Acabo de iniciar el siguiente, The will of the wisps, y también promete mucho. Por lo demás, tardó poco en llegar. Menos de lo esperado. Empaque adecuado, todo sellado, incluye unas tarjetas coleccionables de escenas del juego y un código para descargar la banda sonora, pero realmente esa ya está en Spotify también.

Fantastic metroidvania game, played to completion.

画像は暗くて分かりにくい場面もありますが、綺麗で音楽も良くキャラクターも可愛いです。YOUTUBEで実況している方々と同じように進めるとは思いませんでしたが、イージーモードにすれば、ゲームの雰囲気からして多少は進めるのではと思って購入しました。ところが、イージーモードでもとても難しく、このゲームは雰囲気とは違いアクションゲームをやり込んでいる人じゃないと思うように進めないゲームだと思いました。ゲームの内容や世界観はとても素敵なゲームなので、イージーモードはせめてもう少し不慣れな人も楽しめるレベルにして欲しかったです。まだ途中で、最後まで辿り着けるかどうか分かりませんが、続編もやってみたいので（内容的に面白そう）、時間をかけてやってみたいと思います。追記最後まで終わっての感想です。イージーモード1回目、約77時間かかりました（笑）　ゲームは年に数回する程度で、マリオのゲームでさえクリアできずに止まったままのソフトが数本あります。攻略本を見ても続きをやりたいと思えないのですが、このゲームは難しくても少しずつレベルアップして、出来なかった事が色々出来るようになるので次へと進みたくなります。行き詰まった時は、攻略本がないのでゲーム配信をしているYOU TUBERさんにお世話になりました。自分にとっては難しく時間がかかりましたが、クリア後は映画を見終わったような感覚になりました。日を置いて、イージーモード2回目は約34時間でクリア。上出来です（笑）買って良かったです。続編も注文しました。これも、ゆっくりやりたいと思います。もう一つだけ。お手本にしていたYOU TUBERさんはXBOX ONEでプレイされていて、ご本人いわく続編で「匠」と称していた攻撃（飛んできた火の玉に矢を刺し、反転させて打ち返す）があるのですが、このソフトでも同じ攻撃ができる場面があります。これをすると楽に進めるのですが、しなくても進めます。YOU TUBERさんは、これがとても滑らかに動いていたのですが、自分のスイッチのプロコントローラーのスティックだと軽いのか、動き過ぎて微妙な加減が難しかったです。XBOX でプレイした事がないので分かりませんが、ただ単に自分の力の入れ加減が下手クソなだけで、上手な方はできるのかもしれません。参考になれば幸いです。
