the most annoying thing about this book is how heavy it is
the most annoying thing about this book is how heavy it is. the pages have a shiny finish which I think makes the book 2x as heavy as similarly sized casebooks.

Should be Burned
I second the negative reviews on this book: this is genuinely the worst textbook I have ever encountered in my many years of schooling.First, the writing is pretentious and cumbersome. For example, "Bond was indicted under this statute when she placed a caustic substance on various objects her husband paramour was likely to touch" (360).Obviously using context clues, the husband is clearly having an affair, but why not use the word mistress? This is a minor example, but in a constitutional law class you will be dealing with complex and historical issues, why make the text any harder than it has to be?Next, it's horribly organized. It jumps from case to note, with the notes having little mini-cases inside of them with very, very little context. Quimbee or Wikipedia will be your friend because you won't have a clue what is going on when reading the textbook. Further, the author won't explain the opinions. Instead, he will write "Justice Breyer stated..." followed by a 300 word quote taken out of context, then interrupted with various quips and annoyances from the author. This continues on and on to the point where you may as well Google the case, as most of these landmark cases can be found online. Finally, the book does not teach. Instead, the book asks ridiculous rhetorical questions that you're apparently supposed to be able to answer with a small excerpt of a case that was terribly edited. The author relies heavily on secondary sources/scholars to explain anything, which again, are terribly hard to read and understand in context as a first-year law student, and honestly it's irrelevant. We want to know what's going on with the case and it's historical implications, not watch you circle-jerk your scholarly peers by name dropping them in your textbook that should have never been published. This book is absolutely terrible. So terrible, in fact, that I took a break from reading it to write this review. If your Professor assigns you this book, good luck!

Correct textbook
It's a good quality, clearly new textbook. Like most people purchasing constitutional law books, I am buying the one my professor requires, so I don't have a comment on the content quality, writing style, etc. (also wouldn't blame any modern day author for James Madison's writings being....like that). But it's the book described and it's a new copy; so if your professor requested you get the 7th edition of this book, you're in the right place.

A must for those whir interested in Constitutional Law
Great book. The analysis made by the authors is really good, plus the rhetorical questions presented at the end of each case are superbly crafted

Useful, though a bit dense. Lots of jurisprudence, which helps out when you have to do an investigation.
