I've crocheted with several brands of raffia but this one is a real standout and pleasure to work with! It is much smoother, more flexible and pliable and has a bit of a shine that it almost looks like leather when stitched. I can crochet faster and longer without my hands fatiguing as they do with other brands. The raffia just glides over my hook and produces nice even stitch definition. At first I thought the dark chocolate was looking a little plasticky because of the shine but it has grown on me. If you are looking for a matte finish this isn't it.UPDATE: After working with this material, it became more evident that this is not true natural raffia but nylon plastic. Yes, it is easy to crochet with, unlike most real raffia but it lacks the look and feel and stiffness I want from items made from raffia. I am returning this item and looking for another brand.

Granted this is the first time I’m trying raffia for crochet. But it’s so curly from the way it’s rolled up and hard to work. It’s strong and smooth for sure, but it’s very stiff. After I bought this I saw Wool and the Gang’s Ra-at-raffia and it looks very nice and like it might be in better shape to crochet with.

I bought #43. The actual color is same as the seller's photo shows (my photo is little bit off). it is easy to work with. Nice purchase. I wish they had the color #45. It would be a nice color for hat.

Surprisingly small
