It’s a cream. It doesn’t whip up, it’s not a foam. Like all AC products it smells great. But it’s a thin lotion n won’t massage into a cream or foam if any kind. It’s ok but not great. Been using AC products many years but won’t buy this again. Foam is for me. The old cheap standby Barbasol it is….

Love how well it works. Gives a good clean shave and you only use a very small amount of it. Would like to had a larger size container

# My ReviewThis review is for American Crew ACUMEN Cooling Shave Cream. I’ve used a variety of shaving creams, gels, and foams over the years, ranging from expensive to budget friendly and they basically do the same thing! That said, this feels like a designer product with a quality blended formulation that sets it apart from the rest. Trying this particular brand, I can confirm that this works particularly well on skin/facial hair; however, it’s positioned at a slightly higher price point for what it is.This shaving cream is packaged in an American Crew branded box that has a simple, yet classic look and details the ingredients, directions of use, etc. on the back and sides. Inside the box is a similarly branded 3.3 fl. Oz. wide squeeze tube with the same labelling and descriptive details. The tube is relatively strong and durable with a flip-top lid to allow for the cream to be dispensed quickly & easily with the desired amount.As the product description states, this cream is designed and formulated with natural ingredients, vitamins, and bisabolol that are known to moisturize, soften, soothe, calm and help reduce sensitive skin irritations.The consistency and viscosity of the shaving cream is very light; however, don’t expect this to foam up! A small amount is sufficient enough to spread evenly and feels smooth over the skin; doesn’t feel harsh or abrasive. While shaving, the razor glides smoothly, minimizes cuts, irritations, razor burns, etc. I’ve noticed less nicks and very soft skin afterwards. The cream leaves a nice cooling sensation – it works as described! My post shaved skin feels great!Overall, this is a good shaving cream option for all types of skin. I've been on a mission lately to find a replacement for my trusty Nivea shaving gel. With all the new shaving products on the market, there has to be something better right? Which leads to me to trying this American Crew Acumen Shaving Cream. I can compare this cream directly to Creemo cooling and the new Gillette King C clear gel. So how does it compare?* Consistency. Like I say in the review title, this is very much like using a creamy lotion to shave. I actually thought I got this wrong and that this was aftershave lotion after I first applied it, which is unlike anything I've ever used before. It doesn't lather up. At all. Even the King C clear gel lathered up a little, but this was like aftershave lotion no matter how much I rubbed it in.* Slickness. I have to admit the King X. was more slick and "glide-y" than the Acumen which led to the King C having a little less tug than the American Crew. That said, I still liked the shave experience with the Crew lotion.* Post shave. This is where the Acumen shined. I really liked how my skin felt after shaving.* Value. This is where I have to knock the Acumen lotion. At over $20 it's at least double if more 3x or 4x the cost of other really good products.* Closeness of shave. Directly comparing this to the King C on 3 occasions, (half and half) I couldn't tell a difference (other than for some reason one side of my face is always closer than the other - Hair growth direction? Technique?).In summary, I really liked this shaving lotion. It's different, really different but I loved how my skin felt after a shave. That said, I didn't love it twice as much as other great products I've tried and have a hard time seeing how they can charge this much for this stuff and why only 4 stars.

In the past, I've used American Crew products and was super impressed - all top notch. For example, their pomade is the best, hands down. When I saw these shaving product, I thought I'd give it a try. I took a hot shower after a workout and wet shaved with a known excellent double edged safety razor. When I put this in the palm of my hand, I used a brush to get maximal lather rather than just whipping it with my hands. I'm not going to lie, I wasn't impressed. There was no, as in zero, lather. I actually think that's by design, like using old school oils like olive oil. But, I like seeing where lather is covering my skin. With this, it's a guess. In terms of smell, it has a menthol smell to it too. Despite this, it did perform well. My shave was close and smooth and I didn't have razor bumps. So, it does seem to work well, just not like I'd prefer (with lather).

I’ve been using a few different shave creams through the years, but when the American Crew Sothing Shave Cream became available, I thought that I would give it a try.It works. I get a close shave (but no closer than shave creams that cost less than 1/3 as much).I don’t like the smell. It’s hard to get it off my face, and seems to be even harder to get it off my hands (I put the cream into my hands, then spread it onto my face). Now, after washing my hands many times, and waiting a few hours, the hands STILL smell like that shave cream.I’m sure that some people will like the fragrance a lot. I don’t.I’m going back to my less expensive caffeinated shave cream. It works. It has a mild mint scent that washes right off the skin.
