ALTRA Women's Escalante 2 Road Running Shoe Sneakers

Very excited to say these shoes fit perfectly. I usually wear a 9 1/2 (or a 40) and that's what I ordered, based on other reviews. I have had Altras in the past but have found them to gap on the foot and they felt sloppy. These have a good fit in the heel and mid foot with plenty of room in the toe box (more than enough, without puckering). The foot bed is firm enough not to squish but also has a gentle arch support. They look great on my foot, the tongue is minimal which I like (doesn't stick out), and the zero drop is so good for my back. I love this brand and am so glad to be able to wear them again. Yay!!

Don't size up. I went up half a size based on the feedback and sizing chart. I ended up having to return those because they were way too big. I purchased my normal size and they fit wonderfully. There's plenty of room and my toes do not feel cramped. The arch support on these is lacking, however I just put in my custom inserts and now these are my favorite shoes. I wear these when working out and out and about. They have helped with my Morton's neuroma to give me pain-free workouts. These are AMAZING. I have been searching for shoes that would allow me to continue working out without shooting pain in my feet. I finally found shoes that allowed me to do a 40 minute cardio routine without having to stop because of pain in my feet. I do have to pull the laces a bit tight otherwise my foot moves around too much in the shoe. However the toe box area is wonderful.

I've been wearing Altra's for over 2 years now and would not go for another brand. The toe bed saved my knees. I was wearing Nike's and my knee started bothering me while running. A chiropractor told me it was my shoes, which I was quick to turn down because it sounded ridiculous. He recommended Altra's. He was 100% right. Unfortunately, I didn't know how awful Nike's were for running, but now I know. I gave it a shot and tried the Altras. After wearing Altra's, my knee issue completely went away. It's crazy the impact crammed toes/feet have on your legs and knees. I consider my feet to be narrow too - and still the toe bed is perfect. It feels funny at first (toe bed feels lose) but you just got to get used to it and it'll become normal.The only con is the fashion and style. I hope Altra comes up with my stylish shoes. I bought the white ones and I do love them - all white and simple. But I'm choosing comfort over style. I will suck it up all for the sake of taking care of my body.

Good well-made shoe. Not a lot of arch support. I am over 80 and walk several miles every day as well as attend exercise classes and these are extremely comfortable. I have a slight bunion and these work so well for that. I like the design and the over-all way they look. The price was good. I have been buying Altra shoes for many years. I wear a size 10 in normal shoes and buy 11 in Altra.

My wife loved these shoes. They were designed well and the color was perfect. The only problem she had with them was that her custom orthotics would not fit correctly because of the shape of the toe. The insert that came in the shoe was not comfortable for her. We had to send the shoes back for that reason. Other than that the shoes were great. She still says that she wished she could have kept them!

Love these shoes. The soles are soft, squishy and comfortable. There is no arch support but I have insoles I like and put into all my shoes anyways. The material of the (luxuriously spacious) toe box has become a bit stretched as is noticeable in the photo, but I am unconcerned about this. Some reviewers mention the tongue of the shoe becomes displaced while wearing. There is a tab in the tongue that I threaded my laces through that has so far kept the tongue in place. These sneaks are only 3 days worn but I am extremely happy with them so far. The sizing was accurate and as expected.

My girlfriend loved these shoes. I got her a pair because she loved her other pair of Altra she has had for years. Different foam but same great brand. I am going to finally try me out a pair. The only thing is this pair seemed to be a little larger than her usual size. All good though. No problem returning and I will be purchasing 1 size smaller and also dipping my foot in as well. Cheers.

I absolutely love running in Altras. This is probably my 4th pair of Altras, but right now, they are not my favorite pair I've owned. The tongue is too small like other reviews have said. They're hard to get on and the top of my right foot where the laces sit has been sore the last couple of days; the left foot is fine. I like the amount of padding for road running, it feels like just the right amount. Maybe I will like them more as I break them in, but I feel like I've never had to break in Altras before. Maybe I will update this review after running in them more, I think this is only the 2nd week I've been using them.

Awesome comfortable shoes for a great price!

Too narrow

I usually really like Altras for running - they're the only shoes that don't squish my toes - but these are just kind of weirdly shaped.For comparison's sake, I also have a pair of Superior 4s in the same size (6.5) and those are a much better fit. The length on these is fine, but they curve inward really weirdly, so there's a load of empty space next to my big toe. Around the pinky toe they're actually surprisingly narrow.I do like them otherwise - the sole's nice and they're constructed in a fairly sturdy way. The shape was just an unpleasant surprise.
