Works great!
I purchased this to drill a hole for an outdoor clothesline. I needed one 18" deep hole. I used a Dewalt 20v Max XR drill. It is a 2-speed cordless drill. I used speed 1 (slower/higher power). It is a professional grade drill, so I am not sure how well something like my Black & Decker $50 18v would work...it does not do very well for tough jobs, so drill quality may be a consideration.I read several reviews about it breaking, so I was concerned when the bit hung up on rocks a couple times. It hung up enough to twist my wrist very hard. I had to reverse the drill a couple times to get loose, but it was very fast overall. The bit held up just fine.I used the bit to drill 4 more holes for some tree fertilizer spikes. The holes needed to be about 10-12" deep. I got hung up and twisted my wrist a couple times on one hole, but the bit held together fine. On the other holes, I completed them in 10-15 seconds...very fast! I had no problem with the bit slipping, but that is because the chuck on my drill is designed not to let bits slip. It is a smooth shaft and may slip on most drills.I would not call this commercial grade, because it does look kind of cheap, but it worked great. For the occasional holes, I'm sure it would last a long time. If you plan on using it a lot, you might look for a heavier-duty one. I have no complaints and would definitely buy again. It is a great value and I would not hesitate to buy more products of this brand.

Worth it.
I used this to install sockets for a Marker temporary outfield fence. Much easier than pounding the pipes the kit comes with. The auger got a little bent in gravelly New England soils but still does the job.

Works as advertised!
Seeing some of the negative reviews I was a little cautious on how well this auger would work. I used it on compacted clay soil in the Houston area and it worked great. There was a short learning curve on how to use it. If you let gravity do the work, the auger will just screw in to the ground. I quickly learned to hold back my drill slightly and use quick up and down motions to bore the hole. I could bore an 18 inch hole in about 5 seconds. I drilled close to twenty holes around my tree in short order and barely broke a sweat - even in Houston! Very satisfied with the purchase.

Auger creates larger hole than as n I expected
Auger is ok but not as substantial as I expected. Works ok in soil that isnโt compacted but itโs not as good in clay or if contacts stone. I tried using it to install driveway markers for winter. Holes too big and it has a tendency to spin in cordless drill if I hit stone along driveway

Works as designed
It does what it says it does. Put it in a drill and it drills a hole into the ground! The only thing I could say they could do to improve on it is to make the top portion of the shaft that goes into the drill have some flat spots on it so that when you tighten up the drill it holds it better. It is just smooth and it spins when it is in the drill if the piece hits hard dirt or a rock, etc. Here in AZ the ground is plenty hard....but this was much easier than trying to install landscape lights any other way.

Earth Auger
I've used it a few times. It is able to bore a whole in the dirt easily. It is very well made. The dirt I'm drilling into is very hard and therefore had to drill 2-3" deep before clearing the dirt from the auger. Works just as I intended.

Works
This dirt auger works well.....although for use on compacted dirt, it is important to have a very powerful drill...the auger will lock up in the soil and this will ultimately burn out your drill. I would prefer to see the drill a little more sturdy; but it does work fine.

I have also used this to aug holes for other posts for the beach and it still works like a charm
Brought this auger for the beach and nothing else. I can't believe how flawless it works for auging a hold for my screw down umbrellas. It really made an effortless screw down while still maintaining its hold in a mild/heavyish winds so far. I don't plan on using this on grass either.I have also used this to aug holes for other posts for the beach and it still works like a charm. Even if the hole isn't big enough , you can always give it a little jiggle while auging to get a solid fit.
