Adlam's American Made Doculam hot laminating roll film on 1" core 9" x 500' x 1.5 mil with a matte-satin finish represents quality lamination rolls for thermal laminators. Matte adds contrast which enhances black and white photos, images and dark ink on light color paper while dramatically reducing glare. Overall diameter is approximately 3.6" inches and fits most roll laminating machines on the market using 1" diameter feed roll mandrels. Doculam is polyester based with high-melt adhesive design typically used for two-side laminating and has a standard polyethylene adhesive layer typically wound toward the inside of the roll. Polyester PET plastic films resist penetration by chemicals, greases, and oils and are the most commonly used laminate for hot roll laminators, especially when encapsulating paper sheets. Doculam is proudly made in the USA by Adlam Films, formerly Bryce Corporation, and is likely the most widely used American Made product designed for laminating paper with low to mid-range ink coverage. TIP: The actual temperature required for ANY laminating film varies by laminator type (heated roller vs heat shoe), laminating speed, ambient temperature, type of paper and even the color(s) of the print being laminated. High-melt adhesive design for two-sided laminating Standard polyethylene adhesive layer Low glare finish best suited for basic lamination Best used laminating uncoated paper with low to mid-range ink coverage Retains properties and flexibility from -50 degrees F to 350+ degrees F Resists penetration by chemicals, greases, and oils Common Applications Menus Posters Index Cards Advertising Promotions Tab Sheets Signs & Notices Arts and Crafts

Good film, works with home laminators
I like making paperback books by hand and I needed to laminate my covers with thin lamination to protect them and keep the toner from peeling. I read elsewhere that I'd want 1.5 Mil thickness, which protects things without making them more rigid.I got a roll of this film to use with an ordinary $35 home laminator (Zoomyo 9") since it's impossible to find pouches in 1.5 Mil thickness. The good news is that it works! It does take some finagling and practice to learn how to feed it in without making it wrinkle, and you have to be careful not to let the laminator to suck your page back in and jam horribly, but considering that it's an off-label usage, I'm impressed that you can make a perfectly good finished product once you get the hang of it.My only complaint is that the "matte satin" finish is quite a bit shinier than I'd like. It's not really matte like the matte finish of a literary paperback book. It's just less glossy than glossy finish film and slightly textured.
