Sun Gro 13020401 Black Gold Natural and Organic Soil, 1 Cubic Feet (Discontinued by Manufacturer)

I just started using it and haven't had any complaints so far. Will know better after plants mature to see the results.

This soil is excellent! I got lots of sprouts and the older plants are very happy and healthy.I wanted to add a review for the seller. They accidentally sent me the wrong product and did everything to fix the issue. They were super expeditious, responding to my queries during the weekend! Superb customer service. I will always purchase from them moving forward.

I bought a mango tree about 18" tall and planted it in a big pot with a potting mix that I can't find now. It was made from bark, like mulch, but composted. It was magnificent, and the mango tree grew over 5' in a year.Then I transplanted it into the lawn using this "Black Gold". I had also transplanted another mango tree in the front lawn with the other fantastic potting mix last year. It has done very well.However, the new transplant with the Black Gold in the same type soil lost all its shiny green on the leaves and the veins became yellow and leaves sickly. After a couple months of some fertilizer, I decided to just put a bunch of "Black Cow" manure around it. Well, after a week or so those leaves are getting green again.

I really love this soil. It's very loose when it falls between my fingers and it holds water wonderfully. I can't seem find big bags of this soil that are cheap enough for me to buy except from this seller. Plus my soil arrived faster than I expected. I would definitely buy this soil again in the near future.

Yes it is expensive over other stuff, but it works and it is really nice stuff!

I purchased because I had problems in the past with MiracleGro soil being full of gnats. I had purchased BlackGold Cactus Mix in the past and had no problems with gnats with that. So I thought that since this was also BlackGold I would not have any gnat issues too. But no. As soon as I opened the bag tons of gnats flew out. I was able to vacuum most of them out of midair or on surfaces they landed on. And once I put the soil in the three pots I needed it for, I immediately threw away the remaining soil so as to not have more gnats from the leftover soil. However there are gnats in the soil of the three pots I used the soil in. So am now dealing with those.
