Daughter loves this book
My daughter is in the same phase of life as Jetty: 9, in 4th grade, and recently diagnosed with ADHD. I was looking for a book to help her cope with the reality that this is a lifelong disorder as well as feeling understood and not alone. And I'm so glad I found this book. Being that it's written in diary form, it makes Jetty's journey feel personal, real, and relatable.I read the negative reviews here on the simplicity of the language. My take on reading it with my daughter is this: Diary-form prose is informal, personal, and brief. My daughter is bright, intelligent, and curious; however she is not much of a reader. She prefers to be read to, and when we read together, it stirs up good conversation. And so this style was perfect for us, as it generated quality conversation related to my daughter's similarities with Jetty and answering any questions she had.Even though my daughter loves people and is a social butterfly, she feels lonely and essentially friendless. She could identify with Jettty's loneliness & pining for a best friend. She even had compassion for Jetty and told me--actually, she told me to put this part in my review--that she wishes Jetty were real so that they could be best friends.

Great resource for kids with ADHD
This is a wonderful book. The main character, Jetty, is a 9-year-old girl in 4th grade who loves karate and finds out she has ADHD. The story is told very simply, in Jetty's voice, and in a way that kids can relate to. My 10-year-old daughter was also diagnosed with ADHD in 4th grade (and also takes karate), and this book meant so much to her. She really related to Jetty. She has read the book multiple times, and I can tell it's close to her heart. A great read for kids who are coping with ADHD. I read it and found it helpful as well.

My Daughter Loves this Book
My 7.5 year old ADHD daughter loves this book. Easy to read and she relates to Jetty. I like that while it addresses concerns, it's not overly negative.

Very relatable
My 9-year-old daughter related to Jetty instantly, and this book has been phenomenal as a conversation-starter and a way for her to talk about her ADHD symptoms. Definitely recommend for newly-diagnosed kids!

Great for girls with ADHD
My 3rd grader with ADHD really related to this book. The journal style highlighting the day to day struggles of ADHD helped her understand that she isn't alone in her problems.

My daughter LOVES this book. It has helped a great deal in helping her understand she is not the only person that struggles and she often says "That just like me!".

Written in a format for ADHD kids. Perfect!
My 9 year old daughter loved it! She doesn't like to read too much and this was manageable for her to read a little at a time.

For Younger Kids Only
This book is really intended for a much younger age group than the indicated ages of 9-13. I would say maybe up to age 10? My 13 year old daughter didn't find this book helpful at all.
