Excellent Quality for the price, Good materials, looks great.
We bought this gate to keep our one-year-old off of the stairs. Plenty of gates to choose from on Amazon but we wanted a white wooden one, so this fit the bill. The price is great. The quality of the gate and the hardware is excellent. The wood is solid and the paint job is very nice. The mounting hardware is also good quality. Installation took me a while. As with any semi-permanently mounted gate, you're going to want to take your time when measuring and laying it out, to make sure it's level and that it opens and closes properly. What I like about this gate design is that there is a lot of adjustability to level it, to set its width, and to set its distance from the wall on both sides. My stair banister isn't perfectly level, but I was still able to adjust the latch pins on this gate to fit. My one complaint about the installation is that the template for installing the wall-mounted latches was a little off for me. It may very well have had to do with my off-level banister, but I double-checked the latch positions prior to drilling, and the template was significantly off, by 1/4 to 1/2 of an inch. Luckily, I hadn't drilled yet, and I just eyeballed the correct position for each. So my advice is to use the template provided, but to also line things up and do a sanity check prior to drilling. Once installed, things generally line up and latch open/closed as expected, although it's not super, super smooth, there is some resistance when pulling the gate out of the latch. (The hinge side, however, is flawless; very smooth) Also, while the hinge receptacles and the latches are all wall-mounted, the gate can be un-clipped and lifted out if you want to remove it temporarily, which is a very nice feature. All in all, this thing looks great, is sturdy, is very adjustable for a variety of doorways or staircases and is a good looking fixture in our home for the 2+ years we're going to need it. Especially for $35, this cannot be beat.

Beautiful, Functional Gate - Tough to unlatch
First let me say that this is a great looking gate! The ebony colored wood is really nice and looks way better than the utilitarian gates that are out there. The gate was pretty easy to install using the provided template and instructions. While the gate took some adjusting to get a nice fit, everything came together well. This loses one star due to the latch which can be pretty darned tight to get the gate unhinged. My spouse has carpal tunnel syndrome and it's nearly impossible for her to unlatch the gate (latching is easier with a firm push downward on the gate itself. The bottom of the gate is also a bit clunky getting to close, though we've found with a little lift from your foot when closing, it's pretty simple.Since we are only using the gate to keep our naughty dogs out of our formal living room, we've found that it stays closed very well without latching, though I'd never recommend that for kids. Slight design changes on the latch would easily put this to 5 stars.

Nice looking gate and sturdy
I have to say I didn't like the cost, and I don't like the plastic hardware for the wall. I wish the hardware was nickle or chrome or something a little more elegant to match the elegant gate. The install was fairly simple, however if you don't have studs on one side of the wall it can be a little tricky to mount it sturdy. If it is opened up to a wider setting it is a little more difficult to open too. You have to pull up in the center of it if the gate is at a wider setting. Over all it looks and works great. Just a few things I didn't like. Also you might want to invest in some red lock tight for all the screws on the gate so that once you adjust everything it stays in place. If you don't then you might be readjusting it later. (don't get red lock tight on your carpet!)

After 1 month and after comparing to other options, I like it more than I did initially.
At first I wasn't convinced, but after a month of use I like this gate. What I initially liked about this gate was: - The size is perfect for the top of our stair - The finish on the wood looks nice - Install was pretty straight forward, you need a drill but not major carpentry skillsAfter trying several other gates with different latches, of different sizes and finishesI have to say that this one has become my favorite. At first I was worried about the latch - but it has help up to my little one hanging on the gate - the weight of the gate doesn't pull the latch below the locking mechanism making it difficult to open or shut with one hand. (I've experienced this with other gates we bought. You don't want to have to put your toddler down to have both hands free to open the safety gate) - it is easy to take off if you want it to disappear while company is over or a handy man needs access for large equipment.

Great for my twins! Worth the money! Secure & easy use.
I have twins and this holds both of them. Lol I really wanted a gate they couldnt break and would last a while. I searched for the perfect one. And was so ify because I already heard the wooden gates was easy breakable. But then I found this one and gave it a try. I like the spaces between the gate. That makes it so she doesn't have leverage to climb over. And with twins that's a load off my shoulders. I also enjoy not climbing over the gate because I'm so short now I can just walk through. My 2 yr olds are very smart and they still cant open the lock. Very secure. And wasn't very hard to figure out. But is a bit complicated putting together, especially if you have dry wall. But everything is provided. It is definitely worth the time and money.
