Dont read any other reviews for this product...it is great!
I read quite a few reviews about this product...most said that it was worthless. I decided to go ahead and try it myself...knowing that most people are morons. Let me tell you, I was right :-) This product is AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please note...if you do not have a creative bone in your body or have never done any home improvement, craft, or art project in your life...this is not for you - just pay to have a professional fix your leather/vinyl tear. I however am quite crafty and found this to be super simple and it did a flawless job. We have 2 espresso/chocolate brown ottomans that my son literally chewed holes in. I bought this, hoping to be able to just make the holes, scratches, etc. less visible. I followed the directions EXACTLY (to mix the exact shade I simply used the brown included in the kit and added some black). After just the first coat I was soooo impressed I didn't even think I needed to do the second step. I did step two and that is when I saw flawless results. I would HIGHLY recommend this to anyone hoping to save their furniture, etc. Note - it is also wonderful for surface scratches, etc.

Fixed my chair!
I had to purchase this after my cats decided to use a leather chair as a scratching post. I wasn't expecting a perfect finish, but I wanted to repair the punctures to prevent any further damage - and that's exactly what this product did.The kit arrived in perfect condition. Some of the reviews have indicated that their kit arrived dried-up and useless, and this was not my experience. Everything was still in usable condition. The kit contains a sample piece of vinyl to experiment on, some cloth backing to repair large damage, vinyl adhesive, and seven different colors of repair compound, a couple different pieces of texture paper, and a tiny plastic spatula. My chair is black, so I didn't need to mix colors to come up with a perfect match. And since the grain of my chair didn't match any of the texture paper, I didn't bother using it. I just applied the black repair compound and let it dry.Obviously the finish isn't great because I didn't use the texture paper... But the kit did a great job of repairing all the damage. And the repairs are only really visible when the sun hits the chair just right. There's obviously a texture difference - but the color (black) matches just fine. And the repairs have held well enough for several months now. None of the punctures are growing.Over-all, I'm very happy with this product.

Great product! Must be very handy, and good with hands
I used this product to fix black leather and black vinyl. Takes patience, a lot of thin, careful layers. The end result is PERFECT. Take your time, do little each time. For a 1-2 inch tear, it took me week a to finish (I took my sweet time). I would do a little, every couple hours, a few times a day. Often once before I went to work, and a few in the evening (more during the weekend) .You must be handy, patient, and fastidious. I could not be happier with the end result. I did not expect it to work this well.As far as matching the color, good luck. It seems it would be difficult to match colors, but if you're using it for black: EASY!

Unsuitable for any kind of significant repair.
This might work well on a small scratch or pin hole, but for repairing anything that is actually visible I feel you should skip this product. I used this in an attempt to repair worn tears on the center console of my vehicle formed by my resting my arm on the console while driving. I followed instructions to the letter. I knew it was going to be a long shot, but none of the patterns matched for my needed repair. I picked the closest one, but it didn't matter in the end. I now have an ugly blotch where the tears used to be and within the blotch I can see where the tears were. I could have done at least this good with a glue gun and some spray on plastic. I guess a blotch is better than a tear, but now I've got to find something to fix the blotch. I still rest my arm on the console. At least the blotch hasn't torn back open so far. It sealed the tears, but looks unsightly.Update: Ignore that second to the last comment. The blotch is torn wide open and looks worse than ever. I intend to fill the hole with spray foam and then cover it with spray on plastic. I'll spray a thick coat of the spray on plastic in an undamaged area first. I'll pull that up so I'll have a texture impression. Once the plastic I spray on the repair has dried to the right consistency I'll press the piece I made on there to give it the proper texture. It won't be perfect, but it certainly won't be any worse. I have confidence in my own ability and am sure it will look better. It's now nearly a year later and the repair has completely vanished and the damage is worse than before. Although the damage is in a high use spot - the center console of my Jeep where me elbow often rests - I still expected better than I got here. I'm just going to take some Plastidip and spray the spot with that. It won't look any worse than when I first did this repair and may possibly last longer. I just have to come up with a piece of textured leather or naugahyde so I don't end up with a completely smooth surface.
