After using many squares from other manufacturers, I came to the conclusion that the Starrett combination square is superior to the competition in every aspect. And I don't mean just accuracy and reliability, but also durability and ease of use.Like with other brands, the knob in each of the components is spring loaded. But it works its best in the Starrett: it's extremely easy to change blades. One only needs to spin it half a turn and then push it to smoothly remove the blade or reset it to a new position. It is a pleasure to use.I fully recommend this item. It's expensive but it's worth every single penny.

I have yet to use a poor quality Starrett tool. While they are costly they perform well. I have owned others and now they sit in a box or on the shelf and never get used. I use this tool to check squareness of my other tools and equipment such as my miter saws.I was surprised to find that other squares I have relied on were not so square as I thought and now they are in a box. Starrett proves that America can produce high quality but it costs. However the satisfaction is great.

What can I say? Starrett is the best. Excellent price on this. It doesn’t come with the satin black marking rule, but you can order one for $40 or so.I bought the 24” rule and use it with this.

Fantastic, very well made, precision equipment with sharp engraving and machining. It's a work of art. Keep it oiled, because it's *not stainless*.

I've finally gotten over trying to get by with the cheapest tools, and buy everything like I will hand it down to future generations.This square is everything I could ask for. The hardened heads are really nice; super smooth and scratch resistant. I couldn't imagine ever replacing this one. It's a bit hard to tighten the protractor thumb screws while keeping sub degree accuracy, but I haven't seen another combo square that does it better.

Good storage case, wonderful accuracy, easy to read. However, getting each attachment set up can be a little tricky. Otherwise, absolute 10/10, would recommend.

Everything is wrong about this product. The box had clearly been opened and was taped back shut, there is finger prints all over the product, the finish is bubbling in a number of places, the finish is chipped in others, including every corner of the protractor, there’s scratches all over the ruler and logo on the square. It’s a nightmare. I would return this if I spent $10 on it. But $330+ !?!? It’s an absolute shame that there is products like this on this platform.I now have to wait until the completion of my return to get my money back which could be quite some time given this is the worst time of the year to ship packages and returns.Words and photos could not describe how bad this product truly is. Don’t waste your money buying what should be “quality” tools on Amazon. Go to reputable websites to purchase them instead. So dissatisfied.

Was at a great price at the time. Better than any other retailer. I hope it lasts as long as my dad’s which I now have as well.

Exactly as ordered. Starrett quality all the way! I just wish the numbers were a little easier to read.
