Good unit, a couple of quirks
I have had this unit for 7 months now and used it at least every other day around the farm doing everything from airing up tires to running impact wrenches .First the good ... The engine starts reliably on the first pull if warm and second pull at most if cold and sub zero out . It runs up air pressure fast and recycles back to pressure well . I replaced a similar borrowed John Deer compressor with a Subru engine with this one and honestly feel that it is as good a compressor if not better in some ways ( higher pressure and faster recycle ) though the John Deer did win on noise because it basically pumped air at an idle .Now for the " Bad and Beware "The unit was real noisy after assembly with a clatter that drowned out even the motor noise . I finally found it was the axle clattering due to vibration. Took it apart and bushed it tight fit to the pipes it goes through with electrical vinyl ( common black ) tape and it quieted down . I feel grommets should be shipped with the machine though .Whatever you do , DO NOT over fill the gas tank . Due to the style tank vent they used if you do gasoline will just run out the vent hose into the carb and then the cylinder and down into the oil. Likely your first clue this has happened is that you will think the motor locked up because it is hydraulically locked and pulling the cord is difficult to impossible . Just drain and replace the oil , dry out the sparkplug and it will fire right back up with no damage though . Fill the tank to the bottom of the strainer in the tank and its no problem .I would buy this unit again because the quirks are just that .. It does everything you could want an air compressor of this size to do and does it no matter the weather or temperature it is used in .
