Amazon Basics 2-Sided Easel with Storage Tray, White Board and Chalk Board Surface, Gray Finish

I use this as my shop sign at vendor fairs. The board was easy to assemble and folds shut really as I don't use the center tray. Perfect way to draw attention to my shop!

The chalk board side is amazing. But the dry erase board isn't all the same. Some spots are like drawing on a card board box and I can't get the marker off.

I was looking for a nice chalk board and dry erase board combo for my kids since they are doing online school this year due to COVID. But I also wanted something that could easily be put away and wouldn’t take up a ton of room all the time. So when I came across this Amazon basics 2 sided Easel I thought it would be a nice choice.Setup was super simple, only a few screws and 10 minutes and it was done. The look of this is actually really nice. It looks like a well made easel and has a bit of weight to it. It definitely doesn’t look like the cheap ones you can pick up anywhere these days. It folds easily and quickly for storage and also is stable and not at all wobbly when in use.The problem is that while the rest of the easel looks great and feels and looks solid. The actual chalk board and white board do not. The are very cheaply made and are hard to write on and erase. I tried multiple types of chalks and dry erase markers and had issues with every single one of them. This is very disappointing as I got this for the kids and even I have a hard time writing on it so they will have it doubly so. Also be advised that this is not magnetic at all. Not a big deal but usually brands will state one or the other so that people know what they are getting. Amazon didn’t say one way or the other, but it is not magnetized.Overall while I love the look and overall aesthetics of this easel, as well as the ease of storage, I’m not at all happy with the actual dry erase board and chalk board. It’s almost like they designed the rest of the easel with thought and care then found the cheapest boards they could to throw on it. Which is a shame since this would be a 5 star product if they would have used better boards.
