Alpha 180X Solar Flagpole Light for Flag Pole Lighting // 3-Level Power Setting for All Night Lighting

This review may have to be updated in the future as I just got this and this is the FIRST review on this item BUT,, I will say this. This Solar Flag Pole Light is really built nicely and works awesome so far! I got it at 1pm this afternoon and the instructions said to push the button on it to turn it on and put it in the sunlight for at least 8 hours. Well Florida sun here in February ended at 6:30 pm but I was busy and forgot all about it. I went at 9:45 pm to check on it and found my rear lawn lit up where I had it laying. Yeah, very surprised at that point but I took it over to my 7 foot tall 4 tier water fountain and held it near the ground to just see what kind of light it would give off. It looked amazing! I went to turn it down as it has a high, medium and low button and then off switch. When I clicked the button I was even more surprised to find that the next level was low level. apparently when I first turned the unit on I clicked it one too many times and put it in medium and not high as I originally thought and it was plenty bright already. I then switched it onto the high spot to see what that looked like and was completely amazed as it is so much brighter than I expected. I have two of the top Solar Lights for flag poles on my American Flag pole and my USMC flag pole and also purchased one for my brothers flagpole as a gift and I thought they were nice. They are dim and not even close to these. I will say this, I was so happy about this Light that I went in and brought my wife out to show her as we have both searched for quite some time to find something decent for our flagpoles and also for our Fountain "without" having to dig up the yard and hire electricians, permits etc. She in turn agreed that these look so nice that we should immediately purchase "Two" more before they are gone/sold out before summer and word gets out to everyone! Well, I hope that these work out and we get good use out of these as well or else you will see a new and updated review on here in the future. I'll post pictures as soon the other two units come in and I get them charged and installed. By the way, I DO NOT get paid or endorsed by anyone for any of this, I don't get any specials or anything for free either. I wish. If this works out, well I hope I could help someone out and if it doesn't work out, well I'll make sure that everyone knows about it! Last thing to say was that when I ordered the first Alpha light, it was Tuesday afternoon. Today is Thursday, just two days later and this light was delivered! Incredably fast delivery and fast service. Very nice. I just ordered the other two and it says they will be here Saturday afternoon. If so, that will be very nice.

It's a good light, and it does what it should. It's not very bright actually, and the mounting features leave you rather limited - especially when you have to point the solar panel to the sky, at 50º and toward the south. LOL Fortunately, it came with a cable and I was able to mount the panel on my roof. However, I bought this with visions of using it as shown - and that isn't possible, when considering the solar access requirements for visible sunlight. That being said... I bought another set so that my second US Army flag will have matching features.

The instructions were not helpful for installation at all. I rigged mine up with zip-ties and different length screws. Charged the solar panel in full sun for two days before installing; last night was the first test night. Had it set on "high" to reach my flag, woke up this morning before dawn and flag was not illuminated! The light went out sometime overnight though fully charged. I will try to adjust it and update this review if things get better.Pros: the light is bright and has different settingsCons: it went out overnight, leaving my flag in the dark. Instructions leave much to be desired; awkward brackets for a flagpole. Seems it would work better when mounted to a wall.

It works, but not as expected. Need to put way too high up on the flag pole to be effective. The supplied brackets do not fit onto base 3" pole with supplied nuts/bolts. Had to go to hardware store and purchase different hardware (U-Bolts) and re-drill the bracket to match up with the new hardware. Manufacturer should consider supplying longer bolts and rubber stripping to prevent brackets for slipping and scratching the flag pole. Had I not modified the brackets to make this product functional, I would have returned it the Solar Light Mart and got something more suitable for the advertised purpose.

Works very well on bright sunny days. Haven't tried it on overcast days yet. On the mid-level it operates at least for 12 hours during the night and lights the flags well. Only problem is I fly a state flag underneath the American flag and the lower flag can block the light. I'm going to figure out how to move it to the top of the flagpole and shine down. It's pretty much maintenance free.

Product appeared to work as described, but description was incorrect making it necessary to return. Description states it will work on a 2-1/2 inch flagpole, but mounting bracket holes are a maximum of 2-3/8 inch. The mounting bolts are too small for the mounting holes, and slip right thru the holes. To mount the item would have required purchasing larger bolts, plus figuring out another way to mount on a 2-1/2 inch pole. All at additional cost to the buyer. Disappointing!

The picture shows this will bolt around a flagpole. Buyer beware! Your flagpole must be a very small diameter which wouldn't require a strong light. My flagpole is standard and I ended up buying longer screws. That didn't work either as the light bracket is not as long as the solar panel bracket. Trying duct tape! We will see how it holds up. The light looks bright - we will see if it is! I would not have bought this had I known it really is not for flagpole use - the picture is deceiving. The instructions do not mention for flagpoles anywhere. I think they're trying to get into the flagpole lighting market, but their product is not designed for that.

Nice light with 3 different brightness settings and it shows off the flag at night quite well. Wish that there was some different way of mounting it to the pole beside screws. But overall I am happy with the product and guess the big test will come this winter and how well it holds up in the cold weather we have here in Wisconsin.
