Musiclily 8 Hole Guitar Telecaster Pickguard Humbucker HH Scratch Plate for Fender USA/Mexican Standard Tele Parts, White Pearl 4 Ply

I have a 2003 MIM Telecaster that I wanted to modify with a humbucker in the neck pickup. Since the product description specifically says it fits MIM Teles, I thought this should be perfect. Unfortunately, when I got the pickguard, the screw holes did not line up. No big deal, I thought, I probably just got a defective one, so I replaced it with another. That one also didn't line up. Sometimes you can just drill new screw holes for a new pickguard, but the way the holes were off made it virtually impossible to drill new holes because the holes on this pickguard were off enough that I couldn't use the original holes, but also too close to drill separate holes, so I would have ended up with basically double-sized holes. This happened with two different pickguards. I suppose I'll just have to spend the extra money for a real Fender product.

This pickguard looks great, but the fit leaves much to be desired. The humbucker in the pickguard fit perfectly, the bridge humbucker did not. Even with a small cover plate, the gap was far to small and I had to widen the space to allow the pickguard to fit around the humbucker cover plate. Also, the small semi-circle for the controls did not line up with the guitar control plate. This required a significant amount of trimming to make it work. If you are comfortable making changes (Most I could make with a razorblade) this is a great deal. If you are looking for an easy swap, I'd pass on this one.

This is the second one I bought, problem is, the bridge pickup cutout was made for the Bridge / Humbucker ring combination, which is about 1/8 of an inch more narrow than the typical black pickup ring. Someone posted pictures here showing they got theres and it fit fine with the standard bridge humbucker, which is cool for them, they might have just gotten lucky in the draw, but the 2 I purchased are too narrow. After contacting Fender, and willing to pay the overpriced $30 they charge for the dealer pickguard, they informed the the mode of pickguard needed is no longer manufactured by them and my best but is to either get one customer made or take the one I got from here and route it or file the cut out to fit. As for the puckguard itself, good quality just didnt fit. I will post pictures for those interested.

EDIT/UPDATE! I have to apologize! I didn't realize there were TWO (2) layers of protective plastic on this pickguard! I don't think the black one had two layers, but the brown one definitely does! After I peeled off the first layer, the second layer was still on there and it was showing scuffing and scratches. Once I removed the second layer, everything is fine. Sorry for leaving a bad review of a good product!-------ORIGINAL REVIEW------I ordered one of these in black and I was very satisfied. Then I ordered one in brown tortoise. The brown one is TOO SOFT and shows SCRATCHES IMMEDIATELY. Again, the black one was fine, but the brown one seems like they used a different formula for the plastic.

Two major flaws for the one ply black tele pick guard.1. The screw holes don’t line up with the guitar. That renders it useless.2. It’s as thick as a 3 ply, just all one color. Would be a deal breaker if the screw holes lined up but, thought it would be useful for people to know it’s not a typical thin 1 ply pick guard.

Excellent customer service, quick response to e-mail and it fit my Squier Classic Vibe Tele (doing a Keith Richards Micawber build) perfectly; no new screw holes NEEDED to be drilled (but it's an 8 hole pickguard on a 5 hole body, so I might drill them in but I don't HAVE to). The Seymour Duncan SH55 I bought fits perfectly and it even fits around the golden/brass bridge.

I ordered this for a Squier Tele that aI was upgrading. When it arrived I as a little disappointed in the pearling on it. It looks like it was more white with some pearling in spots. It also has some tiny bubbles in it, which I would expect at this price point but will still mention. I ordered the wrong neck pickup version though so I had the perfect excuse to order another one. I got a black pearl one from the same company and gave it four stars because the pearling was dense and looked great, even though it had the same tiny bubbles.

Like many others have already written in their reviews. It doesn’t fit. Holes don’t line up, it doesn’t line up with the controls plate, the half circle cut for the controls plate is under sized by 1/8”. If you want to re-drill all the holes in your guitar and have it still not really fit then buy this. I’m sending this back if it turns out to be easy.

Good product, just needs a little bit of work to make fit.

Item arrived nicely packed but the scratch plate is for the older style tele, not the latest mexican made units with double (chrome & Black) humbuckers. Being that the rectangular pickup hole was too small I was able to carefully open out the rectangle and the bridge slot to suit my guitar and the unit now fits. So with a little fettling time this item will fit and is also reasonable quality at a very good price.

Didn’t think I’d find this so easy, have a limited ed fender standard telecaster HH. Perfect fit, thanks.

Bought to switch out the one that came with my fender Mexican blacktop telecaster. None of the pickguards I’ve ordered seem to match up with the original one so I had a feeling a bit of work might be needed when I made the purchase which was okay with me. Doesn’t look cheap or anything and delivery was much quicker than stated. Would have given it five stars if it came with screws.
