Mona Bone Jakon 50th Anniversary Deluxe

Well, I have loved Cat from the start when they started playing his tunes on FM radio. I bought the Tea and the Teaser albums in vinyl form when they came out and now I have them on CD. However, for some reason I never paid attention to Mona Bone Jakon. Well the (2) disc deluxe edition arrived today and after listening all the way through I think it rivals both the recordings mentioned above. The hard back booklet with the lyrics and commentary about each song is fantastic! Do not pass this one up if you are a Cat fan.

I liked the entire presentation. From box to content. The remaster, the remix, the demos and live recordings.The book is also well done. They did not take shortcuts and scrimp.

El inicio de los 70 significa para Cat Stevens el cambio del pop al folk introspectivo. Con Mona Bone Jackon inicia una tetralogía impresionante que continuaría con Tea For The Tillerman, Teaser And The Firecat y Catch Bull At Four. En esta edición del 50 aniversario se incluye un segundo CD con demos y temas en directo (los dos últimos con no muy buen sonido). De cualquier forma, muy recomendable.

These 2CD Deluxe editions are are very well made and at least offer some of the Demos tracks off the Large Boxset, although I think Yusuf could have put ALL of the Demo tracks on this 2 CD set. I would have loved to have been able to afford the Large Boxset but way too expensive for me to afford EVEN at the reduced prices Amazon have been offering them lately. So I will just have to make do with the 2CD Deluxe Edition although if Yusuf/Cat Stevens happens to read this review ......can I suggest he speaks to Ian Anderson out of Jethro Tull and find out how Jethro Tull manage to offer similar CD/DVD Disc Content in an amazing hardback book for around £30 compared to the prices of the Cat boxsets, I know the Cat box sets also have vinyl in them and I've never understood WHY. Please in future could you offer consumers the choice of either a separate Vinyl or CD boxset. Not many people want both formats in the same box. Anyway happy with this 2CD set.

Das Remastering ist nach meiner Ansicht hervorragend gelungen. Klare, räumlich sehr gute Darstellung der Musik und der Stimme, es macht Spaß, die alte Aufnahme neu zu hören, toller Klang. Was aber wirklich Mist ist, sind die überarbeiteten Bootleg-Aufnahmen auf der zweiten CD. Meine Güte, diese Arbeit hätte man sich sparen können. Gibt es keine besseren Aufnahmen, von mir aus auch Boots, auf dem Markt? Historisch hin, historisch her, diese Titel sind eine Zumutung.
