Young Kobras Organic, Gluten-Free Original Sourdough Bread (2-pack) - Allergen Friendly, Vegan, Gum-Free, Simple Ingredients & Made Fresh to Order

I have been gluten free for many, many years and have weathered all of the tasteless, nutrition void, overpriced gf products. Of course, gf bread is the top item hard to duplicate or at least make enjoyable and nutritious. I am a good cook/baker and went through the phase of making my own sourdough with some success but at a huge time and effort expense. Young Kobra bread is delicious, and it holds up well to spreading toppings (i.e. nut butters) and freezing (most gf breads turn to crumbles). It's a little pricey but it's worth the indulgence to get a good piece of toast in the morning! Especially like the Fig one for breakfast and the plain sourdough for making grilled cheese sandwiches.

It never arrived, though Owner did reimburse me after 2 orders and offered no discount or a loaf for free!

I read somewhere that the buckeye wheat is the best gluten free wheat - it is very herd to find. THIS is worth the effort and price!! wow is this good - it is soft like "real" bread - it has a different taste - but it is good. It reminds me of the stronger taste of rye but not the rye flavor. It is great toasted with peanut butter or plain butter - or vegan plant butter. I'm drooling thinking about it. It is the best gluten free bread I have had in forever!

For a gluten free bread it’s delicious. It’s dense and one piece will satisfy my toast cravings for sure without the bloat. When toasted it has a churro consistency: crunchy exterior and soft chewy interior. It tastes like yummy sourdough and I love the ingredients. I also love that it’s made then sent out immediately. I only use it as toast. For a sandwich, it might feel a bit stiff.Now the downside:It’s expensive and they are small. It’s clearly a half of a loaf and not a full loaf. For the price I want the full loaves. Debating on ordering again after these run out because of what you get for the price. If it’s 2 full loaves, definitely. Not sure i will re-order on these half loaves.

I have been purchasing this bread for about a year and a half-since spring of 2022, mostly when Amazon has prime day sales because it’s so expensive. I noticed Young Kobras raised the price three dollars in the time that I have been purchasing this bread. I think this was a recent price increase this year, 2024.I’m not complaining about what many other people complain about because I’ve had to deal with gluten-free bread for nearly 20 years now. The weight does not bother me, the fact that it doesn’t brown in the toaster easily does not bother me. I immediately put it in the freezer and I toast a piece when I want to eat it. As long as it feels toasted that’s when I further prepare it and eat it. To me, I’ve been doing this so long I don’t have a problem with it.I do have a problem with the cost, and,my purchase from this summer showed one of the loaves to have mold in the bread. This led me to contact the company and they did let me know that it looked like mold and they offered to reimburse. They were very kind in the email. I appreciated this and felt that three slices was not that big of a deal so I let it go and I thanked them for their prompt response and honesty.The problem is, I ate a piece out of that loaf that did not show any mold and I should’ve been advised not to. I have been sick with asthma and sinus problems and headache off and on on for five days. I’ve also felt incredibly tired and have been in bed off and on.I hit up Google and saw that these symptoms are common for allergic reaction to mold ingestion. So this has affected me in a very negative way.I eat very healthy and a year and a half ago, I found this bread. It felt like I hit the lottery. Because it’s supposed to have organic ingredients and it’s fermented sourdough which is really good for the body. I tried all four types and have come to like the olive sourdough bread, and I love the fig and the standard bread. So because of my ‘attachment’ to what I have never seen available before (I have not found any other options as good as this), I thought things would be fine and I would resume purchasing these loaves.Then I woke up yet again feeling awful. I googled the name of the company and the word, mold. And I was led here to the comment section. This is obviously not a one time event and they are not using full disclosure in the description. That crossed the line for me.If you’re going to charge nearly $33 for two 1/2 loaves, there better be no mistakes, no contamination and they better be exactly what they say. That’s where I’m at with this.I am sadly not going to buy this bread anymore. It’s not worth health problems.When I contacted the company, as I said they were responsive but I felt as though they could’ve given me a great deal more information on being cautious and immediately sent out a couple of loaves. That would’ve been what I would’ve done and I have to go on that. They were kind of in their messages but kindness, although very important to me, does not equate to full disclosure, information for prevention of their customers getting sick, and any other proactive action. I don’t think they enforce enough of their own standards for better hygiene in their bakery, to avoid contamination. Perhaps I’m not informed correctly somehow, but I have decided not to go with this company anymore. The actions speak more loudly than words.Hopefully I will find a local company.

No taste, bad smell

This is the first bread that I have been able to find that is free of the top 9 allergens AND made in a dedicated environment, which I have found is the only way that I can eat most products. If they are allergen free and NOT processed in a dedicated factory I still have issues. I am that sensitive, so I am extremely glad to have found this bread! Support was quick to respond and answered every single question I asked them with patience. The product shipped out quickly per their posted schedule. Don't go by the ETA shipment notifications Amazon sends you, it is much faster. Texture of the original sourdough bread is dense, which is how I like it, and free of large air pockets, which means it is mixed correctly and bakes evenly. I toasted my bread and put a fruit spread on it and next will try some sunflower butter for another special treat. It was also made in a dedicated factory. It has been years since I have had bread and I am so happy to have found this company and the bread they make. In fact I ate 3 pieces upon receipt! Looking forward to the availability of the cinnamon raisin flavor when it comes back in stock. :-) It may be a little pricey, but with the cost of shipping, Amazon fees and the specialty ingredients plus made fresh & shipped out quickly - it is totally worth it. Just freeze the slices so you can pull out of the freezer as needed. Enjoy!
