A little small. My sons hamster escaped by lifting the house up top & got in the rat poison. He was heart broken after only having him 2 months. We took out the whole top part & the wheel since it's so cramped in there & put the house in the bottom. Now we have a baby gerbil in there & it seems better. I would not get this for a full size hamster, only a mouse, gerbil, or dwarf hamster. And be careful with the house on top! Put Velcro or something on the bottom to keep it in place even tho it's harder to clean that way
