Package of Horseradish Root Cuttings for Replanting. All Rusper Farm products are grown organically at our farm in West Sussex. We have sold organic Horseradish Root Cuttings for over 10 years now. Horseradish (Amoracia rusticana) is best known for its culinary applications in foods and drinks but is also used for medicinal purposes. Other than the traditional use with red meat (roasts) and oily fish etc. Grated Horseradish root also gives a fantastic kick to any Bloody Mary. There is ONLY one way to obtain the stong authentic taste of Horseradish and it is to grate a fresh root just before use. The grating itself causes chemicals in the root to blend that instantly create the well-known pungent aroma which chefs all over the world add to a range of dishes. Fresh Horseradish Roots can occasionally be found at well-assorted greengrocers, but it has become really hard to find. Fortunately, it is easy to grow at home. Planting season(s) is from autumn to spring, and require no real attention generally. The plant can spread via horizontal subsoil runners, which generally mean that new roots will emerge even if all roots are harvested. For taste, the best harvesting time is after the first frost.
