I am 45 and have had acne my entire life. Although now under control, I had brown acne marks and some age/sun spots. My dermatologist removed several "spots" which cost me hundreds of dollars. After buying this product, I am very optimistic I won't have to do that again!It took me a couple of tries before I read the product directions on the bottle, but after I did, when applied correctly, this product works! I shake the bottle before I apply each morning and night. The consistency is a thin, almost slimy lotion, but not unpleasant at all. As a matter of fact, it tightens my skin and makes my face feel very clean. It takes only a few moments to dry and then I apply a daily moisturizer, like the bottle states. The moisturizer "triggers" the serum and I experience a slight tingling sensation where as when I didn't moisturize, there was no tingling. I store the bottle in a dark place as the directions also state.My skin is exfoliating gently and besides the diminishing of my acne and age spots, my results have been a soft, supple and noticeably more vibrant skin!

This product is very strong and if you are not used to using Retinol/Retin-a it will irritate your skin. I saw improvement with the very first use, however, after 3 or 4 days my skin started to itch and dry out and then I broke out in very dry, red, painful patches of skin that looked and felt like burn marks. It took many days to heal and was painful and embarrassing. However my skin did eventually heal fine and felt smooth afterwards and I continued to use it very sparingly. Every time my skin starts to dry out too much in spots I stop using it for a few days and then continue. In the long run I would say it does work and made my skin look healthier, younger and smoother. It helped with my acne as well. Just don't use it to often! The instructions say 2 or 3 times a day but I recommend once a day for sensitive skin. Also, it does not burn when you apply it and the smell is not bad. I would rate it higher if it wasn't for the pain I had to suffer for several days.

Don't be a sucker for this gimmick. I'm in my early 40's and have delicate, fair skin with cool undertones and no real bad issues. Most often, people guess my age to be 10 years less than I am. I'm no stranger to spending a lot of money on different items to help tone the skin, reduce fine lines, lighten acne scars or mild age spots. I'm a fan of Retin A & Vit. C. with alpha hydroxy and sunscreen in my moisturizer. For a change of pace, I strayed from my usual use of a Skin Cosmetics product and have already returned to using it! This serum literally BURNED sections of my skin, leaving some areas looking red & taught, feeling painful and tender after just one use! There's no way I could use this twice in a day or even twice in a week, I obviously had a bad reaction to at least one of the ingredients, deeming it a waste of time and money. It would be nice if True Radiance would list the exact percentages of their active ingredients because after discussing them with my Dermatologist (a Harvard Grad), she advised me that using more than one or two acids at a time willl likely have the effect on anyone that it had on me. The Retin A combined with the hyaluronic acid AND lactic acid is overkill. Witch hazel may be used alone as a toner, so when it's also added to this product, it's simply a recipe for harsh results. Overall and simply stated, I believe this contains too much of a good thing. We need to be kind and gentle with our skin, not use high levels of multiple acids and exfoliants simultaneously. As an anti wrinkle junkie(who has tried tons of stuff) I dont give praise easily! But this serum really is fantasic stuff! First off it has an amazing amount of retinol in it(the first ingredient listed) and as we all know, retinol is one of the few things that work. Its also packed with other great things for the skin, although once opened vitamin c doesnt stay potent(one way to make it last longer is keeping it in a cool dark place)I would recommend this to anyone who is serious about good skin but doesn't want to spend an unnecessary fortune paying for big names. Im not saying it will act like botox or fillers(that would be a misleading lie! and I realise every one gets a different result with skincare) but after 3 weeks I did see results and even got comments about my skin looking great.
