Love this shampoo
It is easy to get Used to the bar because it ladhers very quickly on your head. It doesn't dry out my hair like Dr. Bronner's and I'm still helping planet love this product and love this company.

Disappointed, but still excited and not giving up.
Cosmetic Chemist Rant: Lather =/= clean or good. Surfactants that are easier on the skin are notorious for low foam/lather. So that person claiming it’s not good because of the lather doesn’t know what they are talking about (and may not have made it right because I had no problem). So [basic person], if you want good lather use soap, as in heavy duty surfactants stripping every molecule of oil from your skin and has the same pH as bleach. /end rant.I was SOOOOOOOOO excited to try this.Following the directions I massed out ~300g water and broke up the bar. I nuked it in 30 sec intervals, lightly agitating and mashing up the bar as I went. After about 2-3 min it began to bubble and foam, which is where you stop heating (unless you want a foam party in your microwave, no judgment from me). Then I became impatient waiting for it all to melt/ assimilate, so I broke out the homogenizer (immersion blender, NOT WISK. WISK= air = foam = mess), moved to a bigger container, and briefly pulsed 2-3x. If you decided to do this do not remove the attachment from the solution while pulsing, you want to minimize the air incorporation. Turned out perfect.Safety notes: peppermint oil and other essential oil when heated will give off fumes, so keep the container away from your face and eyes until it cools. Also, hot glass looks like cold glass.Just to verify, I tested the pH and it’s too high. I’m not sure what they meant by ‘balanced pH’ but I expect it to be within 0.5 of whatever part it’s applied to. I know a low pH cleanser (which is around where it should be) is a lot easier said than done, but claiming it’s ‘balanced’ is my issue. It has great sensory feel, but the smell is indicative that the peppermint may be too much; and my mildly irritated scalp confirms it’s too much for sensitive skin.I will be using this infrequently, but I will use *all* of it. I’m really excited to see what the next iteration of this product brings, but I will not be buying this current formula again (definitely buying/ trying all the other products though)

GREAT concept, not so great execution
I wanted to love this product, I really did. I'm on a mission to switch my entire personal care routine to zero waste products and this seemed the perfect fit to get rid of shampoo that comes in plastic bottles. The only problem is the shampoo is not great, I feel like it somehow strips my hair of moisture but then also doesn't get my hair totally clean. The fact that it doesn't lather makes it hard to massage the product into the hair and ends up causing breakage which is a big no for me.I love the company and what it's trying to do and really hope they can perfect this product!

It works pretty okay
So looking to reduce my plastic, my daughters use the bar shampoo of this brand, and I don't like bars. I tried this, and 1st when mixing it, the scent is very over whelming, to the point a making me a little nauseous, I was worried about putting the sent in my hair after that. But actually when washing your hair the scent is very light. The shampoo works well, and does not seem to be drying out my hair. It is a thinner shampoo than normal and does not seem to lather up, much, if at all. I am not OMG this is the greatest thing ever, but it works and it does mean one less plastic bottle going to the recycler each month - I just wish they had a few more choices in the scents.

My search is over!
In my attempt to reduce plastic waste I have tried multiple shampoo bars. Some made my hair feel gummy and others have just had so-so results with my hair. My search is finally over! I absolutely love this shampoo. It's easy to reconstitute, smells amazing, lathers well and leaves my hair soft, shiny and manageable. My hair feels like it's in better condition after only two uses. I've ordered the conditioner concentrate as well and can't wait to try it out. Add to all this the fact that there is zero waste and NO plastic and I am one happy consumer. Thank you, Ethique!

fun to make but not use
Was looking for an alternative to a shampoo bar so this was a nice option. I LOVE Ethique! What a great company. This shampoo concentrate was fun to make but didn't work for me. My hair is long, straight, thick and highlighted which makes it dry.1) the scent is overwhelming candy cane peppermint, not sure why it's called "bloom" which made me think of flowers.2) it took an extraordinary amount of shampoo to feel like I could distribute it on my head and then,3) took a really long time to wash out,4) if I didn't rinse for a really long time then my scalp itches all day,5) absolutely needed a conditioner afterwards just to attempt to detangle.I will stick to their Frizz Wrangler shampoo bar.

Perfect
This is super easy to make. When it cools it is just a bottle of liquid shampoo. Honestly it took too long for someone to come up with thisI made it right in a plastic bottle. I tested the bottle with boiling water first to make sure it would handle it. Then I cut the cubes with scissors (cuts pretty easy) into smaller bits so that they fit in the bottle I wanted to reuse. That part was a little messy and I had to gather up all the bits with an index card but worth it to save the step.Highly recommend

Works well... Fragrance is a bit much for me
I like the eco-friendly nature of this concentrate that means less plastic and water waste. It leaves my hair feeling clean and soft, so that's a plus. What I don't love is the fragrance, which is a bit strong for my taste. Even after washing and rinsing, it sticks around, and it's just not my cup of tea. Also, it doesn't give quite the lather I would like, even compared to the solid shampoo bar I've been using previously.I have used and love other Ethique products, but this one's not my fave. Overall, though, it works, and if you aren't as adverse to the smell as I, you might really dig it.
