Q: I am a 32D and normally wear a small, but have done a medium before. Would you recommend a medium?

I'll make guess that may work? Generally, I order couple sizes so have them both there to try on to compare and see difference in fit, etc. Amazon/sellers on Amazon generally have great returns (read about your seller/returns on your item). These are SUPER soft and keep in mind, they do not offer a lot of support if you have large bust or say for long distance running. But, I love them!! Have in lots of colors, went great under all my sundresses and tank tops, could even wear to gym (again if not need ALOT of support). Also, keep in mind stretchiness of fabric/straps may not hold/cover if large bust. I'm 5'6", generally wear 4/6 (Medium shirts on average) tops, 34B/32C bra, and sz 25 jeans. Medium fit me okay, but I actually went w/LARGE in this Body Glove Style, as felt better coverage on the cup area and I don't like rubbing/cutting under my arms/lat's - fits little loose but SUPER comfortable. Yet, on my other Body Glove style the Smoothies Triangle Halter top, I did a SMALL. Hope this may help.

Q: Are there pads in this top?

Yes, but they are easy to remove. I tried the fit both ways, and I think I prefer it with the pads (they aren't huge).
