Manufactured sturdier than most store bought flimsy stray-cat-traps.
The trap comes with a release gate on the other end so as to keep you from having to mess with opening the front portion and risk injury when the critter is released.Made in America.Outstanding.

Large and strong.
Large and strong. The huge racoons wont get out of this trap like they do in my other traps. The only thing I would change would be a larger protective piece around the top handle. The raccoons can reach your hand as is, so wear a glove.

My racoons can't destroy this cage
This cage is super heavy duty and sturdy. The openable back "lift door" makes it easier to put the bait/food in the cage and release the animal. (We did use a small carabiner to lock the back lift door for easier unclipping.) The last cheap cage we bought from a local farm store was thin metal wire and the on the first use the large raccoon had destroyed the handle bracket and lift trigger plus bent the cage to where it was unusable. The only thing that happened with my first "catch" in the Tomahawk cage was the raccoon was so busy she kept rolling the cage....and with no damage. I would have loved to see it just a bit cheaper but IT IS MADE IN THE USA. Support AMERICAN MADE PRODUCTS and COMPANIES!!

ITS A TANK and easy to use and worth every penny!
The media could not be loaded. Ok, right off I will admit that I did not purchase this through Amazon (sorry Amazon) and went directly through the manufacture simply because my area requires a black powder coated option for two purposes. One being longevity in a salt air environment and secondly from past experience with other less expensive traps that our coons are less concerned about black traps and more apt to get in them.Now….the important part! I have a $65 trap similar in size but smaller that I purchased here. I won’t buy it again. Size matters and bigger coons just weren’t comfortable or interested in getting in no matter how extreme the temptation! 3 weeks and two coons among the many visitors. The coons I did get were down right offended that they got caught and I was paranoid that the next one would tear the frail trap apart! I read a brief review of it and discovered one that said “he’s getting a Tomahawk instead”. Glad I found that. This trap is not only 4 inches longer (you won’t lose a big coon because of longer) but its 1 inch wider and taller. May not seem like much to you but it makes a huge difference to big coons! Plus the thick gauge construction turns this trap into a tank! In the first two nights alone I caught 3 raccoons. All three had major attitude problems when I went to relocate them. I had no concerns at all about it holding up to that level of abuse and more! See my video of night 2. First off night 1 the trap was on its own, in the open with no attempt to conceal. Night 2 however…..well let’s just say nobody visits the same trap twice. The video demonstrates 2 things. How utterly fast the trap really is! The trigger spring and weight of the material is the key, mostly the spring though. The coon was hardly suspicious or concerned about having to stoop to get in. The extreme temptation of free marshmallows and dry cat food was plenty enough for him. Now the pictures. You’ll notice that I replaced the factory wire handle with a more comfortable $6 one purchased from Home Depot. But mounting it to the thin tin plate itself was not an option since the weight of the trap (15lbs) and a 15lb angry coon wouldn’t support it. So I had to modify that and as you see, it worked out very well. Further modification: the Tin plate itself is not big enough to keep an upset coon from reaching through the bars (and they certainly will) and attacking your hand. So I merely purchased double sided/walled plastic yard sign from said seller cut and mounted it with zip ties! I’m brilliant, yes, I know 🤪). However, when carrying the angry raccoon, be aware that they can reach for you through the sides. I just might solve that concern later if I forget to be mindful of it it.Now its been a month and I’ve relocated 8 really upset coons. A few bloody noses but no serious injuries, lacerations, broken bones. Theres nothing in the traps design that could do that, so its pretty safe for the critters! We have a big coon problem here in the neighborhood and I’m merely trying to help thin out the herd and manage the population. Thousands of acres of woods and water 10 miles from here. I hope the transferee’s have enough room and resources to survive there first few weeks. Otherwise I don’t care. As long as they’re not here, trashing/digging up my yard, getting into everyone’s trash (mines coon proof now) and otherwise making babies and teaching them how to do the same. You’d be wise, very wise to spend the extra money to buy this Tank Trap vs a much less expensive and frail brand (sorry Havaheart, great ideas, but too flimsy)
