The gal pal and i are both college art students and we had a lovely picnic and flipped through cindy's work.

Gift for my grandson who was engaged in photography in high school. He loved the book as did his teacher and other friends. Interesting read and amazing pictures.

Love Cindy & this book covers some of my fave portraits

Never liked her when I was in art school. Thought she was pretentious as hell. But after seeing her special exhibition in Dallas a few months ago, I was totally impressed. You have to see her work as a whole to appreciate how ingenious she is. Granted I still think she is a narcissistic and pretentious snob, there is something about the "Where's Waldo" like quality in her work that keeps you looking for more.

No Problem

If you were not as fortunate as I was when in Dallas in May to visit her exhibition, this book is a superb substitute. The colour reproductions are true and the introductory text an excellent reading of Sherman's work dedicated to 'unveiling the vicissitudes of signification' p.63. Do note the scale of the images however, as no book can ever replicate the assault of the larger images. I intend to give a copy of this retrospective to many of my young women in my family for Christmas, a quality production that offers profound, deeply disturbing but also entertaining insights into the female 'construction' as perceived by the great Cindy.

Questo testo è frutto di una importante retrospettiva che il Museum of Modern Art di New York ha dedicato a Cindy Sherman nel 2012. Dell'artista vi erano esposte anche alcune opere degli esordi (metà degli anni Settanta) raramente mostrate e alcuni murales fotografici del 2010 mai esposti. La qualità delle stampe è ottima, il testo dal punto di vista estetico è molto curato. I testi sono interessanti, compreso quello della curatrice dell'allestimento: Eva Respini. Il pezzo forte, ovviamente, sono le foto. Non è un volume divulagativo, è adatto a chi, almeno un po', conosce già l'artista.

Wer sich für Fotografen und deren Arbeit interessiert sollte soviele Bücher wie möglich haben. Cindy Sherman ist eine außergewöhnliche Fotografin. Da es ihr an Modellen mangelte, nahm sie sich selbst zum Modell. Und sie erfindet und erfand sich immer wieder neu. Großartig. humorvoll, witzig, hintergründig mit tieferem Sinn schafft sie Fotos, die wie Filmstills wirken, porträtiert sich nach alten Bildern oder verkleidet sich als Clowns oder als Damen der Gesellschaft. Sehr lesens- sehenswert und anregend.
