These ladies were down right terrible as body guards. Just plain inept...and women in this type of business have to be twice as good as men to get half the praise. When an author sets out to write a female in the role as hero, please do it right. They need to be capable of the deduction of Homes and fighting power of Ziva from NCIS. I want them to, "do the job they were hired for". The last fight scene finds the guy they were protecting ( with his hands tied behind his back ) taking down the villain, while the body guard stands and watches. No...don't put a women in a role then proceed to turn them into a Barbie figure. Will not read any more of this series....Eason needs to give women a better role model.

Off to a slightly rocky start...
So far, I've only read one series by this author, and I greatly enjoyed it, but this one seemed rushed. There was very little to base the caring feelings on that I saw!Olivia was a very strong heroine, but her constant push/pull with Wade and his emotions got annoying. I get that she wanted to maintain professional distance, but she should have just given in to her emotions rather than continually pushing Wade away. It made the relationship part at the end of the book rather unbelievable.Wade was a complete idiot! He couldn't accept that the stalker meant him harm, so he did stupid stuff that wound up causing more problems for his bodyguards! He fought against their help at every step of the way, and wound up getting kidnapped and nearly killed for his trouble! The story felt rather unbelievable at times, but it was action packed and held my attention well. I'll likely continue on with the series.

Great mystery
This is my first foray into one of Eason novels. After spending twenty minutes searching for a book to read, and finding nothing that piqued my interest, I was about to give up. Then I opened Always Watching and did not put it down.I figured out part of the mystery early in the novel, but I found myself questioning if I was right throughout the book. Regardless, this novel is fast-paced and you don’t have time to dwell on much before some other action is taking place. There were a few inconsistencies in the details and some elaborate elements of the plot that bordered on unbelievable. All-in-all, it definitely scored a five on tension and action. The romance side of the novel is threaded throughout in spurts, but the main action revolves around the mystery and the spiritual growth of Olivia. If you are looking for a book heavy on romance, then this might not be your book. I skimmed through most of the romance parts because I felt it actually detracted from the action of the story. I didn’t really feel invested in their outcome as a couple. The same held true for the characters themselves. I liked Olivia and Wade, but felt they could have been developed better. They weren’t flat, but at the same time, I just didn’t find myself investing in them – it was all about the whodunnit. As far as the message, it was a simple learning to have faith message. Olivia didn’t trust in God, but through the story, she does. Like the characters and the romance, it just lacked the depth that would have made me really rave about this book.I give it 4 stars because of the mystery alone and how Eason held my attention throughout. However, after the reveal, I really just skimmed through the ending. I feel like this was a first or second draft - all of the elements were there for an amazing book, but it just needed a little more depth in certain areas. However, the mystery was engaging enough for me to try more of Eason’s novels.

Intriguing Christian suspense
Pulse pounding introduction to the Elite Guardians series. Oliva Edwards, co-owner of the personal protection agency is gritty, honest, humble, and determined to make it on her own. Shadows of her traumatic past color her focus on the future and her chance for happiness. “She believed in God, she just didn’t like him very much.” Radio personality, Dr. Wade Savage had “the perfect radio voice, but he also had a stalker following his every move.” He will protect his daughter at any cost. “He prefers to meet conflict head-on, especially when the conflict is personal.” A cast of colorful characters fill out this story adding freshness and intrigue as mysteries unfold and the drama heats up. The action slowly builds and intensifies as does the attraction and romance. Moments of grief and tragedy are mixed with elements of faith and friendship. Olivia is relatable, kind, and compassionate. Her humble upbringing and tragic childhood lay the foundation for her stubborn refusal the let others into the deep recesses of her heart. Wade’s love and tenacity “shatters the thick wall she’d spent years building.” Sweet Amy is the vulnerable, sensitive daughter Wade valiantly tries to protect. His love and devotion to Amy and their loyalty to each other is one of my favorite parts of this book. Eason has me hooked. I can’t wait to devour the entire series. “You can take the girl out of a job, but once a cop, always a cop.”

could have been a good read, but I feel like most Christian fiction ...
Just too cheesy, could have been a good read, but I feel like most Christian fiction is becoming carbon copies of each other. Leads are almost always extremely good looking, attraction is immediate, we don't know why God allows suffering but we trust him (really you think God designed robots? we suffer the consequences of our mistake AS well as other people's mistakes. He created a perfect world and we throw it out the window...often), all the leads are single if there is going to be a trilogy so that each book can be how they fall in love....etc. Guess I'm going to have to take a break from fiction, I need a dose of reality and it is sorely missing.

Definitely worth a shot
I fancied a change from my normal book preference and this book actually was a real surprise. I didn't expect to get so drawn into the story nor the characters and honestly it was a welcome respite from them. The book is was quite a story and I was quickly turning the page eagerly anticipating who the stalker was (I managed to guess right and felt epic). The love story didn't harm either and was quite cute. Definitely worth the read.
