5 PERFECT Stars
So, I'm sitting here on Valentine's day writing out my review for The Lie and I finished it days ago. It's days later and this book is still so fresh in my mind, just like the day I finished/devoured it. Karina has YET to disappoint me with her books. So many emotions. I was a mess reading this beautiful book. The prologue had me bawling. Tragedy strikes and lives are forever changed. Not only does he lose his wife and child, he loses his love, Natasha. But as fate/destiny would have it 4 years later they would reunite together again at King's College. Immediately all those feelings come rushing back for them. These two had my heart skipping a beat! The emotions and raw pain was so heartbreaking. My heart shattered for Brigs and Natasha! These two characters go through a lot of ups and downs, mostly downs, and the outcome to the up is so worth the journey. The love these two feel for each other is beautiful. I cried, I laughed, (SpongeBob) my heart broke and then it was glued back together. We get some very hot scenes, more Lachlan and Kayla (YAY)... even Winter! The ending is PERFECTION! I couldn't have picked a better ending for these characters. My cup runneth over.As always, I try and keep my reviews simple & not give too much away for other readers. I loathe spoilers.Karina addresses so many subjects.. it's emotional, heartbreaking, raw, real and completely honest. I loved how Karina wrote in dual POV and gave us the past and present to Brigs and Tasha's story. The Lie was a quick read for me. In the sense that even when I put it down I had to pick it up and keep reading with puffy red eyes. I love this book. Karina is phenomenal at writing real, raw stories that go straight to your heart. I HIGHLY recommend this book to everyone. Just keep tissues at the ready..Thank you, Karina, for sending me an ARC. Another 5 star read!!!! I'm BEYOND obsessed with the McGregor boys and Brigs did NOT disappoint!A few of my favorite quotes:"We'll be together, I promise.""You are my salvation.""All because of love.""We are forever surrounded by ashes. But we are fire. And fire rises."

Beautiful and Passionate!
BEAUTIFUL AND PASSIONATE! Brigs and Natasha were in love once, and then a terrible tragedy struck and Brigs completely broke things off with Natasha. She was devastated. THE LIE is told in flashback, and we see the beginnings of their love story through the present day. This is a gorgeous second-chance romance, which had me on pins and needles from the first paragraph.Brigs is a tortured soul and I wasn’t quite sure how the author was going to bring him together with Natasha. She barely escaped their break-up with her sanity intact and can’t even begin to think about him being in her life again. Everything about Brigs is simply too painful for Natasha to deal with."Memories of love are a poison. My therapist told me that I have to embrace it. Acknowledge that people fall in love all the time with people they aren’t supposed to, that I was swept away and lost control for once in my life…"Brigs lives with crushing guilt for what happened to his family, but Natasha was the love of his life. What will he do now that she is in his life again? I was rooting for them from the beginning and read their story in one sitting. The writing is incredibly beautiful, soulful and passionate."Tell me what I am to you,” he whispers, leaning in closer. I suck in my breath. Afraid that if I exhale I’ll let all my secrets loose."I loved this book and loved the journey that Brigs and Natasha took in this story. THE LIE is yet another beautifully written story from Karina Halle!

Beautiful second chance romance!! (I need more!)
"Our love was wrong. A lie we told ourseleves. And it cost us the world."I was intrigued by Brigs when I met him in The Play. I couldn't wait to get to read his story. I knew it wouldn't be an easy one. For four years Brigs has put a pause on his life and couldn't LIVE because of guilt. I get where he is coming from, I think I would've felt the same way if I went through what he did."Just breathing the same air she breathes hurts me."The first reunion between Brigs and Natasha was painful. Natasha has tried to get over Brigs and start a new life. But seeing him again makes all her feelings come to surface. We get to see their story in present and flashbacks. I normally don't like flashbacks that much but I really enjoyed them in The Lie. The flashbacks were necessary to get the full experience of their love. It was obvious that Natasha and Brigs are meant to be a.k.a. soulmates!"You've done something to me, awakened a heart in my soul. You have completely enchanted me, my girl, and I am powerless against you. You've taken me from the start."Some parts were heartbreaking to read, especially when Brigs has a dream (you'll know when you read it!). I shed a few tears during that scene. I loved how Tasha and Brigs healed eachother and realised that they still loved each other. However both were feeling guilty, especially Natasha, and she resisted at first. But that thankfully didn't take too long (Brigs can be very convincing!!)"The human heart isn't meant to be caged by someone who doesn't feed it."I love Brigs, and he is so sexy! I LOVED the sex scenes a LOT. It was like Brigs transformed and became something else, something more primal. I need a Brigs in my life: a gentleman on the streets but a freak in the sheets! I also loved Natasha's character because she was so full of life and just perfect for Brigs. They really completed each other. Kayla and Lachlan made an appearance in this book which I really liked, I miss them a lot!"We are forever surrounded by ashes. But we are fire. And fire rises."I am really looking forward to Karina's next books. She keeps on surprising us readers and giving us such great stories!
