G & F 8126M Cowhide Leather Thumb Guard, Thumb Protection, Medium, Finger Guard Sold Separately

I recently took up wood whittling and am admittedly not very good at it yet. My wife was concerned about my safety and the fact that she didn't want me slicing myself up or losing any fingers. She found this leather finger guard and wanted me to purchase it for my safely, so I did. Fortunately I did make this purchase because this finger guard has saved me from Emergency Room visits a few times now. I have had the knife slip and few times and each time it has gone right into the guard, but the guard has saved my finger each time. If anyone was to slice their finger through this guard it would be me, but I haven't done it yet because it is a high quality guard that won't allow knife penetration. The sizing on the guard is spot on as it fits my finger perfectly and doesn't slip off. The guard is comfortable with the elastic and doesn't cut off the circulation in my finger, but instead stays nice and tight and doesn't shift. The finger guard smells great too, like real leather. Great product. Has saved my finger multiple times.

Love these for whittling. But they turn from pressure.

Overall this is a good product. My only issue is that my hands are small and it tends to slip off even though I have the smallest size. But I sort of expected that. Otherwise it does the job. I cut soap and use this as a thumb guard and have had no issues.

I ordered this to use while carving spoons and other small carving projects. The leather seems study and offers sufficient protection from cuts. The finger guard is listed as one size fits all. My hands are on the small size for a male (medium gloves fit a little loose on me). This finger guard is very tight on me. It takes a bit of effort to get it on and once on it is uncomfortably tight. Cutting off blood flow to my finger and turning it blue (I guess I wont bleed if I do get cut). Because it is uncomfortable I don't wear it while carving and as such is not an effective piece of personal safety equipment. If you have very small fingers or perhaps need a finger guard for a child I would recommend this item but it is certainly not "one size fits all." If you wear a medium glove or larger I would not recommend purchasing this item.

This one gets it right, it's thin and comfortable, fits well and is easy to remove and replace.If you "pinch cut" with thumb and index finger using super sharp knives, you know the feeling when you discover that during the last 20 cuts, the blade went into your thumb but you didn't feel it until too late. This was a one-off order for me. I'm trying to find something I can put on my left thumb and then attach an abrasive surface to it, so I can press the finger tips of the four fingers of my left hand onto the abrasive surface and thereby develop thicker calluses on my fingertips, making it easier for me to learn to play guitar. This thumb guard is perfect for my needs. The leather is soft suede that feels really good on my thumb. Delivery was fast and customer service was proactive. I like it when you buy something, even something as inexpensive as this item, and the seller reaches out to make sure you are satisfied. Now I want their entire catalogue. There are probably other things they sell that I might need in other aspects of my life.

This product ripped wide open on the top, stitches came right out within 5 minutes of use. Threw the product away as it isn’t worth resowing it. It fit good but is not a good product for me. The other one I bought for the pointer finger also tore on first use. So very disappointed

This thumb guard is just what I was looking for: a leather thumb guard at a reasonable price. The quality appears decent - I am sure it isn't the best leather, but it certainly isn't the worst either. Looking at the seams, it should last awhile. One thing I note is that based on the product information on sizing your thumb, I should have picked a medium size. I went the for larger "large" size, and I am glad I did. The guard is very tight. I would order a size larger than indicated by the chart on the product page.

Good idea but I would recommend a glove. I found they weren't very secure and didn't fit very well
