This wine is a blend of fruit from our own Grist Vineyard and a couple of other great sites, one in the eastern hills, and another on the valley floor. The 2012 vintage was so great that I would describe it as being "head high and glassy" (for you non-surfers, that is a really good thing). Very little rain during the spring led to a moderate, dry summer. No heat spikes, inclement weather, or other meteorological misadventure. September and October was picture perfect with a slight increase temperature allowing for even and complete ripening of the fruit. The result was a crop a bit above average in size, and way above average in concentration of flavors and color. As good a year as we've seen in a decade.
