Fairy Tale Fashion

It is a lovely book but I was expecting more fairy fashions (like the one on the cover) and not so much history of how fairy's affect fashion. Probably was looking for spectacular fairy garments. This book was not as visually exiting as I had hoped. Was wanting inspiration rather than history. Although I like history that was not my motivation for purchasing.

A lovely, high quality book, though not quite what I expected. It's interesting, but you won't find page after page of enchanting photos similar to the one on the cover, which was my hope.

This book is stunningly gorgeous, well-researched, and well-written. It's much "meatier" and in-depth than many exhibition catalogues, and has a lot of great insights about fashion and fantasy and fairy tales. It's a great accompaniment to the exhibition, but stands on its own. It also includes several essays on the theme by other scholars, including a wonderful essay on ballet and fashion by Patricia Mears.

I got this book as a resource for costuming and it's perfect. Great photos, nice outfit designs.

Fairy Tale Fashion is the first exhibit to link the fantasy of fairy tales to the fantasy of fashion. The exhibit is wonderful and this book is a chance to enjoy the exhibit forever. The book is full of intelligent analysis and wonderful images that make the intent of the exhibit and its concepts even clearer. Thought provoking and insightful!

Love looking at the outfits. I went to the exhibit and could have been then all day!

Was lucky enough to see the exhibit at FIT, and so glad I purchased the book as well. The book goes into great detail about the fashions and accessories and the tales which inspired them. There are also pieces not included in the actual exhibit, such as the Alexander McQueen dress on the cover. An interesting read on fairy tales and fashion .... and a wonderful resource for design inspiration!

Although we are grateful that this Fairy Tale Fashion book eventually arrived, almost a week later than the estimated delivery, it was coverless. Which is not such a big deal, except for the image posted showed it with the cover, and therefore there was disappointment when it was received without it. Nevertheless it is a great book and will be treasured and are grateful we were able to purchase it as it is not readily available and wee offered to have it replaces or refunded if it did not arrive. So all in all it was acceptable.

Very visually compelling, as well as inspirational. Sure helped me out as an artist/photographer.
