Great read
This was such a good story, well written and great characters. Totally agree with one of the reviewers that sadly its let down by Melissa seeing what she sees in the photo and the timeline. This did spoil it a bit for me as it was such a big reveal that couldn't possibly have happened.

Interesting page-turner from the very beginning
Who doesn’t love a good bodies in the back garden mystery; especially one that could implicate one of the main characters as the perpetrator? 😯I read this book alongside a few others. It kept my attention because I wanted to know what happened; what was GOING to happen, but I wasn’t gripped. It was okay though because it was a simmering plot and it worked well for me.The characters worked well together. When they gelled it was beautiful, and when there was stress between them you could feel it yourself as the reader, because Douglas makes you feel like you’re in the mind of the characters; feeling everything along with them - sometimes even empathising with them when they’re wrong.Douglas writes an intricately-woven story that is a beauty to unravel. The tension builds gradually, and with the help of a dual timeline (something I don’t usually enjoy but with this book absolutely LOVED), new events and characters were unearthed (no pun intended), and we realise things aren’t quite as they seem. The last third of this book had me totally gripped.Unusual for me, but I worked out the twist at about 75%, but it didn’t ruin it for me; it made it more exciting and eager to get to the “unveiling” of the truth. I loved the story; it was so well written; you could tell Douglas worked at this from all angles and considered absolutely everything. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ this book is a gem; I can see why it’s popular 👌🏼

A very good "whodunit"
By and large, this was good book. I liked the different timelines within the story line, it kept it interesting. I didn't see the "big reveal" coming so that's always a great thing when one line can change the whole book with a OMG moment however, there is a big hole in the storyline. I won't say what it is because I don't want to spoil the plot. When Melissa identitys two people from a photograph, it completely doesn't fit the timeline In any way shape or form. As it's such a big moment, I then spent the rest of the book waiting to an even bigger reveal, which of course didn't happen. It just didn't make sense of how it could be possible but having said that, it's a good read and very enjoyable. My first book by this author and I'll check out some of the other books.

wow such a gripping story and such a sad ending
Wow just wow; I don’t even know how to write a review on this book, however I will say that this is probably one of the best books I’ve ever read, it’s got its twists and turns, and secrets and a generation of mothers / family. It’s such a good book; and I can’t help but get upset with the ending of this book. When I saw this book for sale in Aldi - I was telling people to buy it, as I can only read on my kindle due to the light needed in the evening.I’ve never heard or read any book from this author, but I do strongly believe that I will now be searching for other books from the same author. What a fantastic book.My recommendation please buy and read - you will enjoy it.

Couldn't put it down...
I absolutely loved this book. It had me hooked from page one and I really didn't want it to end. I was sad to say goodbye to characters that I had become so invested in, Saffy so sweet and naive not wanting to see bad in anyone, Tom so supportive of his young wife, Lorna trying so hard to be a better mum and Rose, who with the best intentions, just couldn't seem to escape her past, and yes I even felt for Daphne, who genuinely thought she was doing the right thing in the end. And omg, did not see that coming at the end..!!!. Hope her next book is just as good.

Plot twists you won't expect!
This book was amazing. It left me with that feeling you get once you finished a good book. The ending had me crying. This is my first book I've read from Claire Douglas and I will definitely be reading more from her.

Holiday Read
Plot was okay but a bit predictable as to what was going to be the big reveal at the end. Good for a read by the pool, easy to get into and dip in and out of.
