"The great thing about The Seven Secrets of Germany is that it uses economic theory and principles to explain something that everybody cares about in Europe -- why Germany was able to accomplish a massive turnaround, from being "the sick man of Europe" to one of the most stunning and prominent economic success of today. I prefer books about something that matters a lot to books about things that actually don't matter at all. So I couldn't put down The Seven Secrets of Germany once I started reading it. This book is not at all like other books about economics, or even about Germany. It is not a diatribe but rather fun, a lot of fun, to read. I learned that now we have the good Germans. I hope that's right!

Mittelstand triumphant
This is a terrific book about what is right about the way the German economy works, with a stress on the Mittelstand and the German supports for Mittelstand companies.

"It's Good to be German"
"In a dawning era of U.S. First, I was struck how this book highlights how Germany emerged as the success story in Europe and even among the leading developed countries by following a very different path and strategy -- one that created opportunities for all, including blue collar workers, foreigners as well as aspiring high tech entrepreneurs. While America seems to be turning its back on the very values and dreams it created and led for the rest of the world to emulate, The Seven Secrets of Germany makes me think that the American Dream is now found on the old continent, in Germany. I wonder why Americans did not arm themselves with this book, in combatting the xenophic, self centered America. As the chapter, "It's Good to be German", makes clear, companies and talented workers will not flock to a country burdened by a tarnished reputation. How others see you and what they think of you is good business. And, as this book concludes, one of the key secrets of Germany's success."

Great book about the things that really matters in an economy. Wish policy leaders in other countries would take notice of that book!
