The perfect travel hotel kettle does exist
I recently spent a week at a hotel for work. I hate to break the news to you but it's getting kind of well-known that there's some sickos out there that like leaving their specimen in the hotel room coffee makers. Don't look it up on YouTube or you might realize it's true. After calling a few hotels before my trip to inquire about coffee makers I realized they're well aware. Most hotels said they no longer provide a coffee maker but you could of course get coffee in the lobby or coffee bar. That's all fine and dandy unless that coffee sucks. So I'm on the mission too have my own hotel travel coffee/espresso setup.I have beans, a hand grinder, a scale, and a espresso maker. All I'm missing is a kettle and an electric gooseneck kettle with its handle sticking out on one side and it's spout sticking out on the other is very vulnerable and oversized. That's what I found these thermos type electric kettles. They all seem pretty similar with some trying to bank on being more Americanized and charging twice the price while this one has pretty horrible instructions, It's half the price and literally the same thing as the ones twice as much.Don't bother trying to translate the Chinglish. It's pretty self-explanatory.Fill water up to the 350ML (11.8oz). Leave the lid off. Plug it in and push the power button. It immediately starts heating at exactly 3 amps. That's about 350-360 watts on a typical U.S. 120 volt circuit. My gooseneck kettle for example draws 10 amps (more than 3X).I started off with water that measured 63°F. After 2 minutes it was 105°. After 4 minutes it was 150°. After 6 minutes it was 195°. That's a decent temperature right there for tea or hot chocolate but I want 205° for coffee. 30 seconds later at the 6 minute 30 second mark it hit 205° but 10 seconds after that the unit shut off because it determined it has reached boiling temp however it only got up to 208°F. That's more than sufficient for me though. At 7 minutes it was still at 208°. At 8 minutes in a drop down to 205° which is the ideal temperature I want to start making coffee. At 9 minutes it was down to 201°. 10 minutes 197°. 11 minutes 193°. All these temperatures keep in mind are with the lid off. At any time after it shuts itself off I could throw the lid on unplug it and walk away with some hot water that will stay that way for a while. The only thing I don't like about it is when it shuts itself off it only does so electronically. The button is still depressed. So if you unplug it and plug it back in again it will immediately start heating because the button is still pressed in. You need to push the button after it shuts off to physically release the power button from engaging even though it's already electronically shut down. That's something I wish they could have improved but for $22, I definitely can't complain. This will also make a perfect companion with my Ecoflow River for making coffee while tent camping.

Hot water and warm milk (with a hack)
We took this with us on a trip to Disney World so that we could warm milk and have hot water for oatmeal.Milk: We used this in conjunction with a glass Evenflo standard mouth 8oz bottle. We had the best temperature results by filling the bottle with 4 oz of 2% milk, placing it in the kettle with enough water to make a water bath, and allowing the kettle to heat until the shut off feature triggered. We also used a small silicone disk as an insulator between the bottom of the glass bottle and the bottom of the kettle. We then mixed the very hot milk with the cold milk until we had the "warm" temperature that best suits our child's tummy.(As an experiment, I tried boiling some milk directly in the kettle. The milk scalded and the kettle needed to be scrubbed clean.)If I were heating breast milk or formula, I would have used the kettle to boil water and then placed the hot water and bottle in a separate container to warm. The bottle gets much too hot for little hands, and a full 8 oz bottle didn't seem to heat evenly.Hot Water: We used the kettle as it is designed and poured the hot water into our travel mugs for instant oatmeal. Since oatmeal is seven bucks at WDW, the kettle pays for itself rather quickly. Plus, we can eat breakfast while we get ready. That makes getting out the door much faster.General Notes:Unplug immediately. The temp sensor is not "smart," and if you leave the kettle button on and plugged in, it will cycle the heating element. Also, I didn't see any UL or CE certifications on this. I seriously doubt it meets any safety standards. The restarting issue is the reason for four stars and not five. The cord is 28 inches from strain relief to strain relief. Hotels are starting to accommodate guests' electronic needs by putting outlets near surfaces, but keep in mind that this cord might not be long enough if your room has all the outlets behind the furniture. The connection to the kettle is an IEC-C5 ("Mickey" shaped,) so if your laptop uses the same cord, you could probably use that in a pinch. (I did a little googling to convert from metric, and the cord is 18/3 AWG. You should also check the wire gauge if you're going to swap cords.)

Perfect for my needs
I needed a water heater so I could make hot coffee and tea when I went to Vegas. I tested it out before my trip and it worked wonderfully. Went to Vegas and it performed as needed. Water heats up with 3 minutes. It will automatically turn off. I found this out when I forgot to watch it.You need to remove the top of device to heat up the water.Clean the inside by adding a small cap of vinegar with water. Let sit for 5 minutes or so, rinse out and dry.I will be taking this water heater with me on my future road trips.
