AcomData Samba USB 2.0/eSATA 3.5-Inch SATA Hard Drive Enclosure SMBXXXU2SE-BLK (Black)

When my old computer crashed about 10 days ago, I worried about saving all my data, so I purchased this and removed my old SATA connected 2 TB Hard Disk Drive running Windows 10 and Office 360 and installed it in this unit. Installation was fairly simple, after removing the back cover and pulling it apart, it has a tray tht you slide your had drive on to that has the SADA and power connections that matched perfectly, then with the provided screws, I secured my hard drive to this tray and slid it all back together, plugged in the power adapter, turned it on and plugged it into a USB port and I am happy to report SUCCESS! I am able to access all of my data on my old hard drive. This is a life saver for me and one of the best computer investments I ever made.

I have two other acomdata SMBXXXU2E enclosures that are for IDE/SATA drives. SATA hard drives functioned fine in those enclosures. This SMBXXXU2SE (note the added "S" in the model number)enclosure is for SATA only, and does not ship with a thin metal (EMI) shield like the acomdata IDE/SATA enclosures. I had two SATA drives, of different manufactures, stop functioning after about a month (for each drive) in this reviewed enclosure. All data appeared to have been lost. Windows explorer and Computer Management showed all space as not used. The drive could not be formatted; the formatting process immediately stopped. When the drive is put into one of my acomdata IDE/SATA enclosures, the drive is fine and all data is shown, so I have to conclude that the problem is with the enclosure (perhaps with the lack of the EMI shield?). I have ordered another acomdata IDE/SATA SMBXXXU2E enclosure to replace this acomdata SATA enclosure. I bought this enclosure for a 1 TB Seagate HD that I wanted to use as external storage for my Verizon FIOS DVR. The drive install was easy and the FIOS DVR immediately found the extra storage. The blue LED constantly flashes, but I assume that this is due to the DVR.

I purchased this drive enclosure after my Cavalry 2TB external drive stopped working in eSATA configuration. The enclosure is simple to assemble, and the directions are straight forward. It supported my 2TB Hitachi drive without an issue.

i have had a few acomdata enclosures and have loved them all. great enclosure here. does not come with esata cable, other than that, great product.

Works great for the price. Easy transcation

This enclosure is pretty straight forward to install. This is compatible with Sata and EIDE drives that makes it very flexible. It is well made and sturdy and I think this is worth the money!
