Not the real thing
Taramosalata should be pink and thick. What I got is white and watery. The taste is horrible!. If you have ever tasted the real thing, you would notice immediately this is not taramosalata or anything close related to it. It also came warm in a box, not refrigerated, not sealed. Being made of fish eggs, it's not safe comsuming it either. In sum, a mighty waste of money. I wish I could return it but I can't. I have to live with my mistake buying it. Goog experience, I will not buy again. I am glad I didn't buy more.Beware before ordering. Disappointing in all senses. It's a total rip-off.

So glad it's available from Amazon
I have loved Taramosalata from Krinos for 40 years! I've ordered it here from Amazon several times and found it perfect each time. However! I do consider the temperature/season when ordering. If people complain about it being sent without insulation/ice/packs/in Styrofoam box/etc then you'll force Amazon to do that - or to stop carrying it. And if they do ship it in the special ways, they will have to charge us exorbitant prices due to the packaging, materials and shipping. Please do not make that happen. Use common sense and do not order this when it's hot outside. The photos showing the tarama separated inside the jar - no, that's not how it should be, I agree. An opened jar, of course, is not ok. Leakage... well, it has a high amount of olive oil and oils can seep, so, that's not great (and was not the case with my orders), but I can imagine it happening. This product has oil, lemon juice and has salt - all of which provide some "preservation". When other reviewers refer to it as "seafood", remember, it certainly is not as prone to spoilage as, let's say, shrimp or lobsters, etc. And, it is "canned" in the sense of "canning jars of jelly". I have no affiliation with Krinos or Amazon, I just don't want to have to pay a zillion dollars for special packaging and shipping when it is not really necessary. From my experience with this product, the extreme problems shown in those photos were unusual examples. Of course, I agree those particular shipments were not ok to eat, but usually, the shipments are fine. Anna James

Arrived improperly packaged and NOT refrigerated
I love taramosalata, and used to love Krinos. However:1. The Krinos product is not highly adulterated and not the quality product it used to be. Its mostly mayo (?) and fairly liquid instead of the denser/more spreadable and delicious mix it used to be2. it arrive with NO coolers/insulation/ice packs - so it likely was inedible long before it arrived here. Unsafe to eat.

Freshness and Taste
This is an excellent product. I've been purchasing this for years. One suggestion, however. Since this is a product that needs to be refrigerated, can you please pack it in "cold packs" such as chocolate candy companies do. Just want to ensure product is kept fresh for consumption. I had no problem with the product, just think this suggestion could help to ensure product is safe. Thank you!!

Delicious!
It did not come refrigerator packed but it’s been cold out so it arrived perfectl! I won’t order it again when the warmer months come though. It’s a small jar wish it was a little bit cheaper but it is absolutely delicious so it is so worth it to buy again! It’s imported from Greece and this brand has been around since I was born so trust any product is from them to be delicious!

Read the reviews & DON’T BUY IT!!
I didn’t see “keep refrigerated” initially. The product wasn’t sealed, as others wrote. The consistency is gross. It can’t be returned as it’s a food item.Total waste of money & I’m quite disappointed.Never time- I’m reading reviews before adding it toy cart.Amazon- you should step in & stop this seller.

Not refrigerated. Not same ingredients shown.
UPDATE: After contacting the Krinos brand they kindly told me that this product REQUIRES REFRIGERATED SHIPMENT and to throw the product out. I am seeking a refund.I love this brand’s taramosalata. I used to get it at Whole Foods in the refrigerated section. I was happy to see it on Amazon, but I have a lot of questions. It was sent without ice or cooling. The label states “KEEP REFRIGERATED,” not “Refrigerate After Opening.” I have no way of knowing if this is safe to eat; but based on the label and where I used to purchase it - it’s not safe to eat.Additionally, the ingredient list shown in photos is not the same as what I received. My label includes natamycin as a preservative. Natamycin is used to extend shelf life and reduce mold and yeast. So it may be that Krinos has changed the ingredients so it can be sold and sent without a cool pac. If that is so, the label shouldn’t read KEEP REFRIGERATED.Until this is more clear, I wouldn’t purchase. And unfortunately, this item cannot be returned. This was a waste of money. C’mon Krinos, don’t make us guess if this is safe to enjoy.
